The first (and some might still say one of the greatest) of the James Bond film villains has passed away - Joseph Wiseman has died at 91.

I have to admit he fell into the "I didn't know he was still alive" category, but it's still sad. I also just realized he was the last surviving 1960s-era Bond villain, too. (The earliest Bond villain still with us is now Yaphet Kotto, the villain in Live and Let Die, followed by Christopher Lee's Man with the Golden Gun; of course, Woody Allen from the 1967 Casino Royale is too, but that film doesn't count).

I also remember him as the emperor in the 1979 Buck Rogers movie.

I didn't realize the fellow was Canadian until I read his obituary.

I also remember him as the emperor in the 1979 Buck Rogers movie.

He was only in the theatrical version, isn't that right? I don't think his scenes were in the original TV broadcast.

Draco: What in the name of the realm is going on? You are attacking while my ships are still hours away?
Kane: I'm... just following orders, sir.
Draco: And just whose orders were you following?
Kane: Your daughter's, sir.
Draco: And did she order our ships to disintegrate as they enter battle? If either of you survive this greatest debacle our realm has known, you will answer to me!

I never saw him on Buck Rogers. They made an action figure out of him, one that lingered at stores for years after the show and toys, even the company that made the toys, folded.

He was on Michael Mann's CRIME STORY, too.
