Lucian Alliance in SGU?

Crewman47

Commodore
Newbie
Was it ever acknowledged or mentioned in background info why the Lucian Alliance attcked the Icarus base and what they hoped to gain from it?

I know that after the fall of the Goauld the Lucian's became the new bad guys but I don't think they did that much against Earth's outposts until that one time.

Any ideas?

Did they really need a reason? They hate the SGC, and if they even thought there was something valuable there, they'd likely go after it.

Considering they attacked with the Hammond present, they must have either had a *very* good reason or they had intelligence that the Hammond wasn't outfitted with Asgard beams. Otherwise such an attack would be stupid.

Maybe we will just have to watch. Also maybe if they stopped using the stupid stones for lame reasons someone could ask SGC what the hell was going on.

I knew the minute they attacked the Icarus Base it was the Lucian Alliance. They are about the only ones left with Ha'tak Motherships and Gliders.

I wondered why not use beam weapons, I wish an onscreen reference was made like they caught them off guard and loss power to weapons or were running some sort of matienence on them.

With Asgard weapons and shields our ship should be superior to a lowly Ha'tak, that battle did not make sense

I think someone had to tip off the Lucian Alliance about the base, I think there is a spy among them

I'm wondering why the SGC didn't get thier hands on some Hat'ak or Ori Motherships? The Goa'uld are finished, the Ori are finished, surely there are some ships around they could get to firm up Earth's defenses.

For all we know they have.

As for the Lucian Alliance, I just chalked it up to "hey, they're hiding something cool over there, let's take it!" as for the Asgard beam weapons, I suppose they surprised the Hammond and knocked them out. (This is why uber-weapons suck, dramatically speaking.)

You know another item I'd like to address in regards to the Asgard, if the Asgard did indeed leave the Earth thier entire sum of knowledge, then why have we not taken that knowledge and built some of those powerful Asgard Cruisers?

Well, they're built to be run by Asgard crews, repaired at Asgard docks, outfitted with Asgard supplies... Better to build something that works well with humans, and along the way get a better chance to actually understand the technology instead of just using it.

Well certainly the SGC can come up with something that is more asthetically pleasing to look at than ther current cruisers. They remind me of space faring Volvos, they're boxy, but good.

From spoilers I've read, the Lucian Alliance is going to return before the end of the season.

Asgard ships are huge. Building one and crewing one would be a huge task that should be impossible for the Stargate and its associated programs to do. Its already hard to believe that they have built a half dozen 304s and dozens of 302s and supported three to four semi-permanent off world bases and the entire thing still being a secret.

Also their ships have neutronium in their hulls and I can't remember the SGC having access to that material, which seems to be much rarer than trinium and naquadah, which is the major components of the 304s and maybe Goa'uld vessels as well.

Crewing a Goa'uld mothership would also be a tough ask and maintaining it would be very difficult. A world with a shipyard of maintenance facility would have been good to have but it seems the Jaffa and Lucian Alliance were quick to usurp control of these worlds.

I wouldn't be surprised if after the defeat of the Replicators if Earth didn't get at least one mothership and keep it at the Alpha or Beta site or land it on the pyramid of a friendly human world for an extensive study. One that they could just pull apart that was never meant to go out and fight.

The perhaps ascension for everybody and we can avoid all these materialistic issues.

If it was a pure ship vs ship battle and the Hammond did have Asguard weapons it doesn't make sense. Remember that Icarus was the target and those Ha'taks had full fighter wings against only 16 from Hammond and a handful from Icarus base. It was a numbers fight, not a technology fight.
