scfi's BEST SEX SCENE

I can't believe that there isn't a single good 'sex scene' (in the original definition of the term - two people doin' the horizontal lambada!) that people actually like in this genre.

Well, as Irvin Kershner wryly observed of the scene in Empire Strikes Back where Leia and Han kiss passionately... that's their equivalent of a sex scene.

So you both happened to miss all the posts about the actual SEX SCENES in Battlestar Galactica and Terminator, among others?

Or did they just get overshadowed by the obsession with the Alien impaling a woman with its tail...

To each their own.

Of the six or so pages full of posts, far too many are devoted to Alien whether it's facehugger or tail or ... While I really liked the movie (I remember actually getting too 'oppressed' by the atmosphere of it all when they enter the ship with the rows and rows of eggs. Had to stop cos the tension was just too much. I knew already about the facehugger bit from just common knowledge about what Alien was about. But didn't know when it would happen. So waiting for it became too much. Watched it again from the beginning again next day) it doesn't meet my definition of a "best sci-fi sex scene".

I haven't watched BSG. As yet. So I kinda am staying away from that. And I don't really remember the sex scene in Terminator now.

Per my definition (the horizontal lambada one) which was somewhat deliberately crass, I was talking about lots of flesh-showing, *exciting* (in the sense of causing boys voices to break) kinda raunch. If we consider The Brotherhood of the Wolf as alternate history sci-fi then it qualifies. For the wonderful gorgeous flesh of La Bellucci.

If you want to see a movie that looks really beautiful and has lots of action and shiny colors and a complete mess for a plot, definitely watch it.

I'd just say the plot is very unexpected. I remember that there were several times where I had to readjust my thinking as I watched it. I knew nothing about the movie except that people (was it here on trekbbs?) were talking about it. I didn't even know that Ms. Bellucci was in it (I might not have known about her at that time. Don't know if it was before or after Malena). Anyway - there is much to gain in the watching of the movie even if all it results is in putting RobertScorpio on the quest for mo' Monica!

Stargate Universe had a great sex scene which is probably my favorite one of all time now. The show is about a group of people stranded on a spaceship billions of light years from Earth, but they can use some ancient stone-like devices to swap bodies with others back home. Well, in episode 1x07: "Earth", a glitch caused two people to swap bodies while one of them was having sex. You can see it at the 7:47 mark in the clip below. The scene isn't too graphic, but it's still a sex scene so consider yourself warned.

I agree with Kyle/Sarah Conner in Terminator, that was a good one.

Also, "Athena" and Helo on Caprica in "Battlestar Galactica" was another good one.

Battlestar had a couple of really good ones.

I can't think of any other good actual sex scenes (as opposed to just hot kissing or whatever). Sci-Fi is at times very 'juvenile' about sex.

Add to that Alien sort of abounds with twisted sexual imagery. We have a man forcefully impregnated through fellatio with a rather violent C-section birth, after all. And then we have Ash's attempted rape with a girlie mag, the aforesaid Giger artwork... I don't see sex everywhere in this film (it seems completely absent from the crew interaction) but it's definitely a major theme.

Whilst it's obviously not in the same league, I actually find the AvP2 Impregnations far more disturbing than the original.

In fact I think that film has a lot going for it. It shows a full infestation you don't see in Aliens.

That was so disgusting to me I walked out out of that piece of shit movie. And I usually like slock. But that was over the line IMO. That, and it was just an awful, awful movie.
