All signs indicate Star Trek 2 is going to be EPIC

In my opinion the Star Trek we had this year was just an introductory to get us use to this re imagining in the modern form. Concensus showed that it worked out beautifully and our beloved franchise has been resurrected from the dead and THAT IS A FACT.

Now, I bet the sequel will be even bigger with a much more complex storyline. I have a feeling they want the new movies series to inspire our generation and makes us wonder about the deep mysteries of life. Honestly I think this is what they intend to accomplish judging from all the interviews I read.

If I'm right, ST 2 will shock the hell out of us like the Dark Knight did in summer 2008.

So what do you all think?

#1 - I hope you're right

#2 - It's not ST 2, It's ST XII, but its actually neither. There won't be any numbers in the title, according to Abrams.

They've made a good start in setting up the characters to be basically the people we know, but in Kirk, Spock and Uhura's cases, have the potential for character arcs that are different from what we've already seen.

IIRC, even the first Star Trek II didn't have the "II" in it until later on in the production. I clearly remember seeing movie posters (and I even think the novelization) said simply "Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan". I also recall it being called "The Vengeance of Khan" in early script drafts. I wouldn't be surprised if the numbers continue in fandom even if they're not in the official titles. I personally lost count after Undiscovered Country.

You know, trying to be "EPIC" isn't necessarily a good thing. Sometimes a decent story told properly is all that's needed for a movie to be good. But whatever, maybe I'm just old-fashioned. You kids enjoy your EPIC movies of today and I'll just go watch good movies from yesterday.

The old folks can have their silent movies. Meanwhile the rest of the world has moved on. There are new adventures to show and new places to go.

Except that it seems like they still don't have any idea what the next movie will be about or who will direct it and everyones schedule is getting too crowded for it to come out within two years
