Daniels and the Temporal Cold War in Trek Literature

I agree that a book or perhaps duology focusing on the Temporal Cold War (for instance how it started, how it started to begin spiraling out of control to effect the past and most important who Future Guy was. It would seem to me that Future Guy wasn't the artitect but perhaps just one of the many generals who are fighting this war against the Federation was part of a faction in this case one who was allying with the Suliban) and as Christopher mentioned there is the aftermath. Also I would like to know where the time ships and Captain Braxton's agency was while this was all going on (i assume that Daniels was a member of this group).

AFAIK, Daniels was from the 31st century, the timecops were from the 29th.

Although this would fit with my theory - that Braxton is Future Guy.

^Daniels also seemed to have some special abilities, such as coming back from the dead and such.

You mean after we saw Silik shoot him? I always thought Daniels was a hologram in that episode. He didn't 'die' like a normal living creature would, he just sort of...winked out.

I've heard the Braxton theory before...what purpose though would it have having Braxton revealed as Future Guy? Underminding his past? I know Janeway and Voyager pissed him off but to the extent that he would aide the Suliban? I like the theory that it is a future Romulan attempting to destablize the Federation before it's formed. This would then connect with the Romulan dude we saw at the end of the Andorian arc with the Aeniar.

That's always been my favorite theory too. It really does make the most sense, plus it could possibly even tie the Romulan War into the TCW, which would allow it to continue with disturbing the RW arc.

Braxton? I think that's a dreadful theory. It takes Small Universe Syndrome to a new level. All of space and time to choose from, and Future Guy turns out to be someone we've met before? How staggeringly unimaginative that would be.

Besides, how could it be Braxton? The crazy version of him was wiped from existence -- twice. (Technically, "Relativity" shouldn't even exist as a story, since it has Braxton seeking revenge for events that were wiped from the timeline at the conclusion of "Future's End.")

Not wiped - integrated. ;)

Perhaps, but it seems evident that the very nature of what happened in that episode - including the sane Braxton being arrested for crimes he's going to commit, even though we can see that he won't end up getting the chance to commit them - suggests that there will be a whole new way of investigation and prosecution that will have to be invented, to take constant time travel into account. An agency like 29th century Starfleet, which can detect time travel and defend against it, will surely take into account timelines that were 'wiped'.

These past couple posts have reminded me of my desire for a series about Braxton and/or Ducane and the Relativity crew. I've always enjoyed time travel stories, and the idea of a time traveling Starfleet has seemed cool to me since I first saw the VGR episodes.
