I wonder what the normal teaser-trailer opening will be for each episode

I saw a human skull in the promo. I was really hoping that we wouldn't see any other humanoids for at least 2 seasons.

    I gave it a 7, I was in a loving mood.

I say B-, some slow moving plot areas and weird things with the camera, but it has a load of possibility that i hope these writers don't waste like Atlantis.

We don't see any humans for at least the first season.

I enjoyed it a lot. It was very different from what I've been used to in the SG universe and there are characters I am interested in, though Mr. Angry Soldier Dude is going to get annoying quick if they don't add some dimension to him. Will definitely tune in next week.

I dont know what I think...other than I hated late season SG1 and nearly all over SG:A..and I heart BSG.

I will come back next week to see how things progress for now.

Guys, I'm giving this an 8 - Beyond the Known Galaxies, I was impressed. I didn't give it 9 chevrons just cause I think they should have done all 3 hours up front, plus, there were bits that were a bit slow plus the sex scene felt forced and out of place, and I forsee more of that. But man, This aint your fathers Stargate, they really have changed things up. I don't care if it emulates BSG or whatever, it works, I like it. Period.

You're more forgiving of the contrived elements than I am. ;)

I'm still wondering how this Rush guy seems to know as much about Ancients and Stargates as Daniel, though.

So do you think they will keep track of how many people there are or do a Voyager and ignore all that?

About 80 went through and two died, so 78 to go. I would have said like 90-100 went through just to cover in case everyone ditches the show.

Well, obviously he's been studying it

He might have in fact been working with teams on Atlantis, especially now that Atlantis is on Earth, maybe he was assigned there

Rush did tell Eli that there's a video he didn't see, so I'd say that Rush was fully informed by all of Daniel's videos.

I hope we find out about the attack on the planet, that's the main thing I would like to know.

"Educational videos? Jack is that really necessary? I mean, it's not -- "
"Jackson! Make the damn videos before you die again or go to another dimension, or.....y'know....we'll have to get McCay to do it."

    I gave it an 8.

I was really impressed and liked the concept for this. Just hope it doesn't get too Battalstar Galactia rip-offish. I already some some stuff that's a bit similar...

I don't really care for the Lucian Alliance stuff

I want to know how they were able to cause so much damage to a Daedalus class ship though

You should have had a separate live commentary thread. This one is pretty long.

Anyway, let's cut to the chase... This felt like a franchise show. In other words, it didn't feel like a show in its own right. It felt like what it is... a fresh take on Stargate, and in that regard it mostly delivered. The show's premise seems a bit odd when you think about it too. A ship with a gate on it? Alright. What I especially like though is the less campy tone and the all-star cast. Those things are a big part of what sold me on the show. Now the story itself was pretty slow and didn't grab me, but it had some great moments and the ending did well at setting up the show's format. The way they'll communicate with Earth was pretty impressive too. I'll give this one 6 chevrons.

Here's something else I like about the show...

I look forward to the day she and the geek kid get it on.

That's what i mean, I want to know why they were attacking, how did they find about the planet and so on. Hell it could have been the Asgard attacking for all I care.
