Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths preview

The preview, including some clips with Mark Harmon (Superman), Gina Torres (Superwoman), and James Woods (Owlman) (also, for one line, Billy Baldwin as Batman; he sounds decent). Harmon struck me as a bit of an unexpected choice for Superman when I first heard about it (plus, Gibbs is totally Batman), but he come across well here (and, really, Harmon's standard speech pattern wouldn't fit Batman).

I do find it a bit annoying that they don't show who's voicing Wonder Woman, Hal, Barry, etc.

The animation looks great, per usual.

I'm not digging Mark Harmon as Superman (he sounds like he's bored), but I'll wait until I see the thing to make final judgment.

I hate how Ultraman looks. I prefer the Ultraman from JLA Earth-2. I like Mark Hamon as Superman...James Woods as Owlman is perfect. I really seriously want David Caruso as Batman/Bruce Wayne in one of these movies. I can't stand him in real life but I think he would have a great Batman voice. Don't really like Chris Noth as Lex Luthor. The animation looks great...I can't wait to see the Panotipticon (mispelt it) the Crime Syndicate's HQ on the moon. This should be as good if not better than Superman/Batman. They keep raising the stakes in each new movie. I'm hoping for Kingdom Come soon.

Part of me wonders why they just don't stick with the same actors for the sake of consistency. That said, I think Mark Harmon's a great choice for Superman, and if he brings in a bit of the irreverence of his Gibbs character on NCIS, it could make for an interesting listen. I agree, I don't know about Baldwin as Batman. I'd have actually gone with James Woods, strangely enough.

I wish that Tim Daly, Kevin Conroy, and Clancy Brown would have had their classic roles. Hearing Gibbs as Superman is going to be weird at best.

Though at least I know it will be a good movie knowing that Bruce Timm is still in command.

I really would rather not cling to the DCAU guys like that. It's no different than whenever a writer wants everything to be like it was in 1964 or whatever.

One line isn't much to go on, but I didn't care for Baldwin's voice as Batman. He's too high-pitched.

Yeah, it's kind of odd. If / when I watch this, I'm going to keep hearing Beau Felton as Batman. He just doesn't have any real depth to his voice.

23skiddo...the reason why they have rotating casts or new voice actors for each movie is part of their mandate for these films. As mentioned in a previous thread, their intention is to explore different animation types and techniques, music, and the voice casts as well reflect this. It's very much a conscience decision to not have the same cast in order to show different takes by the actors on these characters is my guess.

I didn't see this posted anywhere else so I thought I'd add it here:

Hmm, you know, I haven't seen any of these features, but this one looks pretty darned good.

Some point in the future, I'd like to see a Justice Society film or JSA/JLA teamup... though that might be my recent splurge of Justice Society trades talking... :adore:

Agreed across the board.

Guardedly optimistic. I'm so-so about the other DCAU projects that have come out, though I've bought just about all of them. Of the last two, I thought Public Enemies was okay, didn't care for the animation. And Green Lantern just didn't hold up to what Geoff Johns has done with GL in the comics.

I wonder why the same actor isn't being used to voice both Batman and Owlman?

Well while I don't know much about the original Earth-3 Owlman, in the JLA: Earth-2 story Owlman wasn't Bruce Wayne he was Thomas Wayne Jr. the alternate Bruce Wayne's brother. Which would be why they used different voice actors if they are going with that.

I think Ultraman is supposed to be Kal-El of Krypton, but other than that, yeah, they're all different.

I don't like Billy Baldwin as Batman either. Too bad they can't get his brother Alec - he already sounds like Batman on 30 Rock!
