Out of the choices, I picked Law and Order (the original, unedited version they had the first two years). If Rockford Files were on the list, it would be quite a bit tougher to decide.

Hill Street Blues, but I put L.A. Law, my second favorite theme. Law and Order and Quantum Leap are tied for third.

Isn't that the truth! I instinctively voted for Magnum as it was the first one that popped into my head, but all the others are awesome too.

Mike Post didn't compose the theme to"CHiPs" (though he did one that was not used and has not been heard by the public to this day).

Famous TV composer John Parker composed the theme, and from season 2 onward it was arranged by now famous film composer Alan Silvestri.

I voted for Magnum, but I could just as easily choose The A-Team, Greatest American Hero, Hill Street Blues or Quantum Leap.

I always rather liked the Greatest American Hero theme -- which as far as I know is the only theme on this list that actually qualifies as a "song." You can't call something a song unless there's a human voice singing it. The others are simply main title themes.

And doesn't Pete Carpenter, Post's collaborator on most of his '80s TV work, get any recognition?

I feel the same. I voted for LA Law, but there were at least half a dozen others I could have easily chosen.
