So, what will happen to this puppy once the Halloween festivities have concluded? Except for the wings that snap into those "U" shaped brackets, it doesn't appear as though the shuttle can be disassembled for storage. Will it become a permanent fixture of your property? Will you donate or sell it to another person (which begs the question about its transport)? Will you eventually destroy it, maybe with a good deal of pomp and ceremony?

I really dont know yet. The wings do come off, and I could almost just cut the shuttle in half down the middle after Halloween; but still it might be too heavy to move unless it gets dis-assembled more. So basically, not sure :-)

Not if one applies the kind of precision demonstrated by some members of the "Tardis Rebuilders Group". Trust me, Who fans can get just as, uh, "particular" about the dimensions (no pun intended) of specific police box designs as Trek fans can get about the Enterprise. (But at least inconsistencies there (too tall, too short, windows too square, etc,) can be rationalized by a "fluttering" Chameleon Circuit. Well, one can use the "trek-planation" about the Kalinda program materializing the Enterprise "slightly out of phase" for faulty proportions!

Sorry to say, but nope. The weather went bad for a few days and I came down with the stomach flu; so nothing has changed for a week. I'm making a Home Depot run tonight and plan on spending all day tomorrow working on it along with Thursday and this weekend. It's a bit behind schedule, but since the hull pieces are 4' x 8' big, they should all install pretty quick.

Well the Home Depot raid was a success. This should be the last of the foam and 1x3's that I need to finish the shuttle. Well shall see what happens tomorrow.

Awesome. How sturdy is that Foam? I was thinking about making my stargate out of that, instead of the plywood.... It would be much lighter.

It comes in .5 to 2 inch thicknesses, so depends on what you use. Im using the 1 inch thick and its pretty sturdy. A blunt impact the size of the palm of your hand it will handle just fine, but if you poke it hard with your finger it will probably go right thru.

Depends on the brand, if it's pink or white foam, and if it is foil-backed or not. The 2 inch will run you $15+ per sheet is my guess.
