scfi's BEST SEX SCENE

Unmentioned so far:

The bit in the original "The Howling" where the couple transforms into werewolves in mid-act.

And pretty much all of the "Cat People" remake with Nastassia Kinski . . . .

Does Dollhouse count? Because Tamoh Penikett is positively smokin' in one of the episodes. Oh and the girly person whoever she was I suppose...

My favorite is in BSG's Lay Down Your Burdens. It wasn't steamy or arounsing but rather haunting when Baltar and Gina went at it as they kept cutting to the inauguration ceremony. Great scene.

I second that. The whole sequence was so moving and tragic, with the perfect music and the phenomenal acting by Helfer and Callis... one of the best scenes in BSG in general, and a great example of a sequence where the sex scene actually has a real importance for the story and the characterization.

Another candidate is also from BSG - Starbuck's dream about Leoben in "Maelstrom" that is sexy, dark and very disturbing at the same time (and controversial - I remember how it used to ruffle feathers at the Skiffy BSG forum, and how it made some people freak out and throw around words like 'sick', 'rape fantasy' etc!) - especially in the extended alternate (deleted) scene - and again, has multiple meanings for the story and characterization, as it is not juts about her relationship with Leoben, but her attitude toward the idea of "Destiny" (which Leoben has always been about, anyway) and whether to finally give in to it or not. (Yeah, yeah, in the end the show screwed up the entire storyarc of Starbuck's Destiny and made it all confusing because the writers had no idea where it was going, but it worked wonderfully at the time.)

BSG had many great sex scenes - some were hot, some were disgusting, because they were meant to be (e.g. Ellen and Cavil  ) but they were not stereotypical and they were never (or almost never) there just for its own sake. Two other good sex scenes, more conventional and hot in a usual way (in the sense that it was passionate sex between two people in love, or at least in lust) were Helo/Athena in the woods in season 1, and Caprica and Baltar in his house in the Miniseries; unfortunately, they were both tainted with the stupid 'glowing spine' gimmick. Also, the make-out scenes between Boomer and Tyrol were very hot, although they did not have an explicit sex scene.

On the big screen, the best sex scene is definitely Sarah Connor/Kyle Reese in Terminator.

I saw Galaxy Of Terror in the early 80's on Cinemax. I was around 14 or 15. The scene where the naked girl gets raped by the giant worm sticks in my mind

I wish this would come out on DVD.

That is just disgusting.

hi gray..reading your new chapter right now..but the scene he is describing is very,well...interesting. I remember watching that movie on ON-TV, a precurser to HBO I think, many many times!!! Wasn't the rape so much as the nudity that made the scene...

Good Pharazon!!!

I've got to second Kane and the facehugger. The most memorable sci-fi eroticism is the stuff that's weird and screwed up, and Alien is quite up there as far as that goes. Interestingly, O'Bannon said he wanted the facehugger to target a man so that'd it unsettle men in the audience rather than possibly titillate them in a rape fantasy sort of way... and yeah, mission accomplished.

It was also implied later on in the film that Lambert was raped by the Alien before she died.
Where was that implied?

I think it comes down to the Alien's slightly phalic tail which reaches up behind/under Lambert. There's also Lambert's final breaths over the com system that have a slight sexual tone to them. I remember I used to think the Alien was raping her, but in actuality I think it's just her death throes we're hearing and the alien is just tearing her apart.

A man is attacked by the alien, and you see blood in his mouth as he screams; it is then implied that Lambert is raped by the alien; later, you see the man very briefly with blood on him and a severed foot dangling nearby.

(IMDB Parent's Guide - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078748/parentalguide)

And the actresswho played Lambert reportedly said as much:

"Actress Veronica Cartwright, who played Lambert, muddied the waters somewhat by later claiming that her understanding of her character's fateful encounter with the alien was that Lambert was being raped, a claim that has been much discussed over the years particularly in the wider context of the highly sexualised nature of much of Alien's imagery."

You must have been watching a different Alien from the one I watched.

They don't SHOW what happened but as was pointed out earlier, Lambert took a much longer time dying than the rest of the crew and the sounds coming through the intercom certainly sounded like a rape.

WHY the alien would do such a thing is, of course, unexplainable, but then, this IS one of the great horror movies we're talking about, with some very strong and disturbing sexual undertones (like the facehugger sticking something down your throat in order to reproduce.)

For that matter, I'm confused as to HOW it would even know how to do that. We've already seen how the Aliens reproduce, and it certainly doesn't resemble human copulation. Where would it have learned rape in the sense we understand it?

It has been many years since I read the novel 'Alien' but I think that in the book Lambert is stung by the alien's tail. The aliens would have to have some way to knock out people if they're going to use them as incubators. They would have no reason at all to "rape" someone.

Many people seem to pull from the implied imagery that she is being "impaled" between the legs by the aliens tail. An image which carries a subliminal sexual context in the form of a rape.

The sequence was supposed to be filmed much more graphic with more of the events "on screen" until it was felt that it revieled too much of the creature too early and that the effects work, involving wire work with both actors and puppetry work on the tail, just looked "too fake" so it was cut back to the more "implied and suggestive" version used on film.

David Naughton and Jenny Agutter in An American Werewolf In London.

...and I agree, Jenny looked hot in Logan's Run as well!

Not to mention Ash trying to ram a rolled up girlie mag down Ripley's throat!
