No US distributor will pick up Charles Darwin movie

Or you could have the Beagle, with Darwin onboard, being attack by pirates in the Caribbean. Most American audiences wouldn't even realise that the ship was sailing the wrong ocean (and in the wrong century too).

Orlando Bloom could play Darwin.

Guess what? You know that small film production and distribution company that picked up The Passion of the Christ when all the big Hollywood studios passed on it -- Newmarket Films? Well guess which film they just acquired the domestic rights to. :p

They're planning for a December release date.

Now wait just a Flushing Meadows minute here...the same distributor is handling this film and The Passion Of The Christ?

How utterly ironic. :guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw:

Not really. Both are movies made to make money. What I find surprising is how supposedly no distributor could be found then they make this link to an absurd at best poll from a few years ago proclaiming only a tiny fraction of Americans believe in evolution.

It's more likely they can't find a distributor for a more financial reason. Or the movie is just boring and uninteresting. I haven't seen it or read 5 pages of this thing to see if anyone has. Probably the story was more interesting to tie in with that poll and sensationalized it to "Americans hate evolution" story because that sells better than "Evolution movie can't find distributor."

Ooo, maybe this means they can do a crossover film! Jesus vs. Darwin FTW!
