Barry russo has died........

Grant

Commodore
Commodore
Barry Russo died.......in 2003 at age 78.
He played Lt Com Giotto in 'Devil..' and Commodore Wesley in 'Ultimate computor'
Wesley was Roddenberry's middle name and Gene wrote Ultimate....
So that's a cool charactor to play--one written by Gene and named after himself.

He stopped acting in the mid 1980s and dropped off the map.
But IMDB now reports that he did in fact die in 2003 in Hawaii.
His last acting jobs were 4 episodes of Hawaii 5-0 sp perhaps he just decided to retire there.
Lucky guy! I guess he had enough money to live the good life for his last 20 years. I hope so anyway

R.I.P.

Glad you asked that...........

Of the 401 actors who had speaking roles in TOS about a third are known to have passed away..
About a third are known to be alive and about a third kind of dropped off the map and it's not certain they are alive or dead.

Until this month IMDB listed him without a birth date or a death date, but today when i checked they listed his birth and death date.

Many of the actors who don't have listed birth (or death) dates, played small bit parts and/or had very breif hollywood careers. Many of them were fairly young when they acted on TOS (usually as one-shot crewmen) and it is likely they are still alive.

They are, however, about 30 actors who were in their 40s or 50s when they filmed TOS and it's unknown whether they are alive or not.

His passing was just listed and he deserves mention even if in a delayed manner.

that's how i see it.

...and you can't say fairer than that. Good on you for remembering him. :techman:

Yes, a mention is warranted. I sometimes wonder where are they now, so it's good to know if they have passed, or even if they're still alive, acting, whatever.

Yes, good to remember him. Both of those characters were favorites of mine in two really great episodes :)

R.I.P. Barry and thank you. Even if its six years late, you are remembered.

Vons

Sure, Russo may have died years ago, but we're only just finding out about it now. So what else are we supposed to do?

I agree with those who think that his passing is worth mentioning. I for one am glad to know, and I also hope his final years in Hawaii were pleasant.

Well, see, I wouldn't have ever known had it not been for this thread. So, I'd say you did the right thing bringing this to our attention, even if it did happen six years ago.

Good stuff.

Yeah, thanks. I don't see what the big deal is mentioning it. Obviously, not too many, if any knew about his passing away 6 years ago. It's good to know that at least someone is curious about these things and, hopefully, keep the rest of us up to date.

Yeah, I would appreciate it if for some reason I did something people remember me for even if it is six years on from my passing.

The problem with the thread title is that it implies a recent event. If it were "Actors that you might not've realized had passed on" then it would be fine. As-is, the title is like, "Richard Nixon has died......" and so has Mao Zedong....
