Movie Rank Pins(Commodore)

James Wright

Commodore
Commodore
Can anybody tell me if both rank pins that represented the rank of Commodore in the Star Trek Movies(2 thru 7) were the same size since the shoulder strap rank pin is the smallest of all the commissioned ranks?
Thanks!

James

There were at least one or two commodores visible with the officer assembly in TVH, with the rounded "half admiral" pin. The captain variant pin with extra arrows AFAIK was never used, and I've only seen one offscreen representation of it for a commodore in one of the comics. I have seen it suggested as the movie era insignia for a fleet captain though.

That's cool. I never thought they ever showed a commodore on Trek since TOS. I always liked the rank, and I'm glad in some small way it wasn't completely shelved.

Does anybody know if Robert Fletcher had any dimensions for the rank pins as he designed them?
Thanks,

James

I remember in about 1996 in the Star Trek magazines you could order rank pins from a distributor. One of them was a movie era commodore pin and it looked like the Captain's pin, but the center was solid instead of having three bars.

Yes, that company made many pins which were not accurate, or based off of the ones used on screen. I believe they were called Hollywood pins or something like that.
