Hello All:

Went to Target today to look for the new Playmates Star Trek XI Phaser/Communicator Belt toy.. could not find it..BUT Did noticed that ALL Playmates Star Trek XI toys are now on Clearance sale..

for example: Phaser is now $10.99 (regular price: $15.99)

and the Enterprise is now $20.99 (vs. $24.99), etc

Anyone know where they are selling the *new* Star Trek XI Phaser/Communicator BELT Combo Toy ?

Thanks

You'll probably have better luck at Toys R Us. I think I saw it on their website as well.

I'm not surprised that the toys are on clearance. Wal-Mart, I know, stopped selling them back in late June.

Thanks for the heads-up. I was kind of thinking of getting the phaser, but didn't think it was worth $15.

As for the action figures, I really WANTED to get some (out of my great love for the movie), but they were just so ugly and crappy looking I could never make myself buy any. lol

The difference in selection between the Targets and Toys 'r' Us for ST toys was frickin insane. I guess Toys 'r' Us had some sweet deal to sell them, but I was really disappointed in what little Target had in stock.

Target only put out enough to fill up the pegs, and would only bring out more when they were bought. When I went there to buy figures, I took four off the shelves and asked one of the employees to bring more, and they said they could only bring four new ones out since that's all I took off the shelf.

Well that sucks.

It depends on your particular Wal-Mart or Target because some stores do things differently. I can still find a lot of Trek stuff at regular price in both of the Wal-Marts where I live, but the Target stores where I live are known for not letting product sit on the shelves for too long and have cut the price of every Playmates Trek toy by 50%. They've done this with some Star Wars, G.I. Joe (non-movie), D.C., and Marvel toys as well.

I got an action figure-sized Millennium Falcon at Target for only 20 bucks a couple of years ago. Right now, they're selling the nuEnterprise for $14.99...

It's odd because our Wal-Mart had a minimal selection all summer (various figures; no phasers or communicators), but now they've got the whole line at full price.

My little boy wants a phaser, so we're off to Target tomorrow.

Joe, stunned

My local Target has the toys at 50% off. I bought the Bridge playset for $12.48. I believe the figures were $3.48, $4.98. The accessories were $7.48 and the Enterprise was $14.99. I already own two Enterprises and the Transporter playset. I just need 3 more 6" figures to complete the first wave.

We were at K-Mart today and they still had quite a few on the shelves. Prices were cheaper than I remember buying our stuff for, but I can't be more specific than that.

I bought the Enterprise, a phaser and a tricorder at Target the other day from the "Clearance Sale". I think I spent $35. I needed the communicator for my Halloween costume and paid more for it at Toys R Us than I did the phaser and tricorder together.

As for the figures, I only bought the 6" versions. I just need to get Old Spock. I just don't think I have any room on my desk at work for him. (I will be buying the McCoy and Chekov from the second wave when it comes out. I want them because they will be wearing their uniforms rather than their cadet suits.)

I also bought the big 12" McCoy... because I am completely in love with him. :alienblush:

Bad news. The big stores rejected the idea of those figures so some online mail order firms (eg. NewForce Comics) had to get together and order them from Playmates as exclusives for Wave 2. I think they're only taking orders for whole waves.

Or buy some extra Sulus (remove rank stripe) and Spocks from Wave 1 and do headswaps with Cadet Chekov and Cadet McCoy. But it then gives you Cadet Sulu as well.

I just picked up the Playmates Enterprise at Target this afternoon. When I checked the clearance section, there were figures and phasers, but no ship; I thought that I was out of luck, but by coincidence I wandered down the next isle and discovered one that had been ditched by someone and was in the wrong place. I took that as a sign from God and snatched it up. :)

It is on my desk now; I am quite impressed by the quality, which I find to be better than what it looks like on the box picture. It isn't as toy-like as I first feared.

[EDIT: Just in case somebody finds this info useful, the model is exactly 15" long, and the saucer section is 7" in diameter.]
