I really enjoyed the NCIS premeire tonight. Although at first it was a little slow, the plot did thicken up towards the end and I really enjoyed the end of it! :D I never did watch NCIS:LA though and don't know if I will or not. BTW, loved that NCIS cast pic!!! That's a nice pic of them! Have yall seen last week's TV Guide lately? They have a pic of Tony and Ziva in there and it's HOT!

Love that pic. They look good.

I watched the first 2/3s of JAG, all of NCIS, and I douvt I'll stick with the new show.

I read somewhere that if Chris O’Donnell has a thousand faces, they all have the same expression, and it’s asking why he ordered ranch dressing instead of creamy Italian. That sentence gave me more entertainment value than the show did.

Just finished NCIS... yeah, they really did nothing new. The cliffhanger that didn't matter and everything is back to square one. Just like every other year.

I'm just not sure why they felt the need to basically write what amounts to a pilot. Is it because they want to try to get the LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell fans watching the main show as well as the spinoff? It just seemed rather pointless to reintroduce the entire cast after 7 seasons.

I don't want to say that I hate it, but it's gotten to the point where I felt the same way when I was watching Stargate Atlantis. I know it's at best an average show, but I feel some OCD need to watch it to the bitter end, even after the ratings drop and all the fans have long gone (Which is odd, considering I did drop JAG after all the CIA crap started to happen).

This is probably the problem with live action TV though. You can't do anything drastic... in fact, the most traumatic thing that happened in the JAG-verse is Buddy losing his leg, and they eventually still found a way to make people forget that happened.

Here's hoping LA tries to change it up somewhat... but based on that backdoor pilot from last year, I can't imagine it'd be all that different either.

Yeah, I've been rolling my eyes at that since they first started turning the show from a criminal investigative one to an espionage one a couple years ago. Apparently something similar happened with JAG, but I never watched that, so I wouldn't know.

JAG not only had crappy CIA crap, they also managed to write in a love triangle involving a CIA agent.

Remember when NCIS was about solving crimes involving members of military personnel?
People basically asked a similar question about JAG in the later years. Remember when JAG was a law show?

I was fighting to stay with NCIS:LA a little less than half way through...

If you ask me, the only thing worth saving on that show is LL and Chris. You could dump the entire rest of the cast and I wouldn't care. But those two at least act like they are partners and have worked together for some time in a unit/team. The rest of them are card board cutouts.

Personally I could have done with a little more Kensi myself. I don't know this show has a different dynamic than what we saw in Legend.

The NCIS:OSP:LA cast is odd. They made the youngest cast member the new Ducky, and neither the new boss nor the computer nerd they brought back are listed as regulars.

Not the boss, just the money.

So, just finished LA... not much to say. The show reminded me of The Unit because the "director"/whatever was a recurring character and G is basically the same character as the lead character of that show.

I suppose the new set looks better than the drab gray of the old basement set... but I don't get why they need this secret base with their own tailor. But hey, they're actually trying to solve cases... involving military personnel! That alone makes LA better than DC in my book. :p

Wow, what a steaming pile for NCIS:LA. Having not seen the "Legend" episode, I have to say that LA was all style and no substance. It looked like what would happen if "hollywood" got hold of Mcgee's writing. Lots of pretty people standing around. The secret base that looked like a 5 star resort hotel being used for a hollywood production. (it reminded me of the original "The Fast and the Furious" where the cops convienently had access to a multi-million dollar hollywood mansion to run thier operation out of). The tough as nails older lady boss with the heart of gold cliche' (and did anyone else keep expecting her to yell "NO CAPES"? especially when outfitting "G" for his assignment?). The show just seemed to have no heart. All style and no substance.

And did anyone else think Chris's neck looked funny? Like a snapping turtle. I think he is going to develop George Lucas neck in his latter years.

Its a deep cover unit, not a regular investigations unit like Gibbs' team.

Yeah, I enjoyed the banter between Callen and Sam, but I wouldn't miss the rest of the cast if they were mysteriously replaced by others between this episode and the next.

We don't even need all of them. All you need is LL, Chris, and a "guy/girl in the van" character, think tom arnold in true lies, and perhaps a "cute chick" character, just because there are times when you need a hot woman for undercover work. That is it a three or four person team who operates undercover and answers directly to the NCIS director.
I vote to keep Linda Hunt's character!

Loved the NCIS opener and didn't like the NCIS : LA opener. The LA one was bland and boring and the agents looked like idiots to not put the dots together sooner at several different points of the show. The original episode they had to set it up last season was good but this opener sucked. I think it was a very bad decision to get rid of the female lead from the "pilot" episode from NCIS last year. This show isn't anywhere close to the original. I'll stick with it a bit to see if it gets better but right now with that episode I think it's REALLY bad.

I have to agree with you regarding the female lead. Who exactly was leading the LA team tonight? No-one in particular seemed to be in charge. Things happened and they reacted. Vance seemed to be calling the shots, but from a considerable distance.

Liked the NCIS episode. Nice surprise to see Tony sitting in that chair early on. OK, Gibbs did seem to cover a lot of ground in a very short space of time late on, but as Abby once said, "Gibbs only uses his powers for good." ;)

Did anyone else find it interesting that when Tony was asked about the fourth member of the team he said, "She's dead" and revealed he still sees Ziva as just a replacement?

You know that's a pretty good summary.

It's foreshadowing. Just like how NCIS "evolved" from crime procedural to international espionage and intelligence, they're going to take the Supernatural playbook and take on the apocalypse... which will feature Zombie Kate.

and I'm sure Sascha Alexander will be available to play the role too.

The show always played the mini CIA as well as the mini CSI angle. Since the pilot it had the agents stopping a USS Cole type attack through the Kate/Ari storyline
