The glory of Netflix is giving me the opportunity to watch lots of shows that I otherwise wouldn't watch. I have a short list of shows I want to watch, but I'm not sure which to watch next. So I'm letting you decide! You have until I finish watching "Freaks and Geeks" (probably a few days; I'm still waiting for the last 3 discs to arrive) to place your vote.

Since Supernatural is the only one I've seen out of those (not including Smallville's first three episodes), I voted for that. The first season is mostly episodic fare without much of an overarching plot line, and Sam Winchester's kind of annoying and lame during those first episodes, but the show really does improve with every season. The main storyline really starts to kick in with the last couple episodes of S1 and just gets deeper and better from there.

Smallville is crap; Mad Men is unconventional, I think it's excellent, but it's definately not everybody's taste; I don't really have an opinion about True Blood; Weeds is a lot of fun; and you should really watch Dexter if you haven't seen it yet imo.

Lost, Dexter, Supernatural, Dead Like Me, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Weeds, Entourage, Californication, True Blood, Battlestar Galactica would be my suggestions. But out of that selection. To start right after Judd Apatow's Freaks and Geeks, I'd say would be to watch Dexter than Supernatural, True Blood and then Weeds. Mad Men is something i need to get into myself. Another show I'm interested in is Breaking Bad.

Of that selection, Dexter is your best bet, IMO. The first two seasons are damned near perfect television. You'll actually be angry when the episodes end, because you'll be dying (no pun intended) to see more.

You should watch Smallville if you're also interested in CSI: Miami, Walker: Texas Ranger and Baywatch. The writing is about the same quality.

Of those, the only ones that I've seen any of are Smallville & Supernatural. I'd suggest Supernatural. Smallville is crappy & painful, particularly the early episodes, particularly any time Lana Lang is on screen. (Lana Lang is tied with Laura Roslin & Kara Thrace from Battlestar Galactica as my most despised TV character ever.)

I've seen the first 3 seasons, but it was a long time ago, and I was mostly in a drunken college stupor. I don't remember hating it, but I do remember going, "Wait, how the hell is Chloe going to survive that house blowing up?"

I never watched beyond that episode.

:wtf:

This boggles my mind.

For the sake of ease, let's pretend I've already seen every single show ever made except those on my list.

This happens in EVERY ONE of these types of threads. If you post "Should I get a PS3 or Wii," you'll get 10 posts telling you to get an Xbox 360. Same with "Which of the following TV shows/movies should I watch."

I'd suggest Supernatural based on the 10 or so episodes I've seen, but I've missed most of the series and apparently quite a few bad episodes.

I know, I should have expected it. I figured the poll with very specific options would have deterred people from doing it.

At least you didn't list Battlestar Galactica as an option. The last time someone did that, everyone's favorite poster TheMasterOfOrion went off on a multi-paragraph tirade about how awful the show is, how he hated every single episode from start to finish (yet still watched), and then he spoiled the entire show to the original poster.

Anyway, except for Smallville which is just painfully stupid, all these shows will probably be entertaining for you, so you can't go that wrong whatever you choose imo.

That may have been for the best. Battlestar Galactica is kinda like meth. It's exciting & intoxicating at first, then it becomes addicting, then you look back on it and weep at how miserable your life has become because of it. Everyone who has watched it should tell their story in elementary schools and scare the kids straight so that they don't make the same misakes we did.

Definitely Supernatural. The show has a great 1980s low-budget horror vibe. It starts out as more or less an anthology of American Folklore and Urban Legends tales and then evolves into an escalating occult war. I kind of miss the Folklore, but the story arc is definitely a good one. And the characters are all terrific.

I voted for Dexter, it's just a great show. I was living in Missouri when I bought it (and the first season of Weeds, I think), I didn't know a soul in the state and made a blind buy. I watched the season in a day, without seeing another soul, and and at the end of it I was quite sure that I could become a serial killer.

I also like early Weeds (the last few seasons have really changed the show), and True Blood (trashy, but a lot of fun).

Haven't seen the others.

Honestly, I think they all suck.

If I had to, I guess I would recommend Supernatural, because it can actually be entertaining at times.

Of the shows listed my I would go for Dexter, with Supernatural second and Weeds third. I didn't like Mad Men, haven't really had a chance to watch much of True Blood and Smallville is alright at times but not worth the effort of actually going out of your way to watch it.

Go for Supernatural or Dexter. Go for both. Mad Men is also excellent, but definitely not for everybody. Very, very slow. Very slow. Avoid Smallville like the plague. It's awful.

Supernatural and Dexter have the best character development.
