Nic Cage as Supes...a picture

Have no words to describe the feelings I have after seeing that picture other than I wish I hadn't been curious enough to click on that link. This pic makes the concept drawings look like rare pieces of treasured art! I'm glad this movie has never seen the light of day. Giant robot spiders!

Sweet Jesus.

It's ... it's like Dan Jurgens' mulleted Superman, yet somehow more horrifying.

I'm probably going to get shot down for this but...

Personally I always thought Cage was an inspired choice to play Superman (in the same way Keaton was a brilliant off the wall choice to play Bats). He's gone off the boil the last few years but 8 or 9 years ago he wasn't a bad actor, and he has a real alien quality to him that would have been interesting to say the least. Her certainly wouldn't have been a carbon copy of Reeve that's for sure, and I bet his Clark would have been fun...

You work for Marvel, right? ;)

Makes Superman Returns look epic in comparison, don't it?

That pic is just so wrong. Even assuming Cage's wigged out hair wasn't final (or was it?!), that costume is truly vomit worthy

The fact that this version of Superman was never made restored my faith in a higher power. Unfortunately, viewing this picture shattered it again.

Just imagine if this movie had actually been made and we'd been the critics.

"Sweet Jesus!" raves Rolling Stones Magazine.

Entertainment Weekly says, "Preposterous! PREPOSTEROUS!!!"

Roper screams, "AAAAAHHHHH! It BUUUUUURRRNNNSSSS!"

:guffaw:

That looks like a hoax to me.

According to industry folks over on The RPF who claim to have seen the real costume designs, it is. IIRC, there were design sketches from the Burton version released a year or two back, and they had Superman in a black, spiky outfit with no cape, which matched the rumors leaked about the Kevin Smith script, and also agrees with what the RPF folks have been saying.

That movie was the worst idea ever. Infact, it was a entire trruck-load of "worst ideas" and not a little F-150-sized trucks, one of those giant house-sized trucks they haul chunks of mountains out with.

That picture is just another truck-load of mountain being hauled to a giant canyon somewhere.

I like Nick Cage but he is NOT Superman.

EDIT -

It does look like that picture is fake. The costume is a bit shiny and "plastic-y" looking and spindly looking too. Someone above said it looked like Cage's head "shopped" to an action figure, I can see that in the design. The "S-Shield" design also looks like something "recently" designed for one of the off-shoot Superman comics and not something that was designed 15 years ago.

how odd...

the concept art- was he supposed to be some kind of ice cyborg?

edit: does anyone think Burton could do a cool X-Men flick? maybe one of the teen books like Generation X?

I think Burton has no control over the little artistic goth kid inside him, and ends up putting a weird spin on other people's work. I think he should pretty much be left to do his own stuff.

Someone on the RPF posted this, which is supposedly a photo of the suit they actually build. He said the suit went through about five different versions, so the one in the OP could be real, but it looks too much like an action fgure with Cage's head photoshopped in to believe.
