New "Blue Peter" Competition - Design A TARDIS Console

Well according to the link above:

Back in the studio, they launch a Doctor Who competition, which will see one lucky viewer design a Tardis console that will feature in the new series.

um, the Doctor could scroll though some different console rooms before making his decision, or it could be the console room of another TARDIS, however asking viewers to design a console room for the TARDIS of a timelord we dont know, would be kinda tricky.

truth be told im not keen on this kind of thing, we pay the BBC to make our TV shows, not to ask us to do it for them, Doctor Who has plenty of examples of this

1) the alien from Love & Monsters was designed for a Blue Peter competition
2) the alien featured in the "mini episode" on Tonight's the Night was a fan creation
3) the Doctor Who Adventures magazine ran a competition to design a companion for the Doctor, to feature in its comic strips
4) some kids from Totally Doctor Who featured on Doctor Who at some point (not sure when)

that is before we even consider the awful "A Fix with the Sontarans"

"A Tardis console" not "The Tardis console".

If the Time Lords are coming back at the end of the year there'll be plenty of other TARDISes (TARDi?) going round.

I wasn't suggesting that it would be THE TARDIS console just that at some point in the series the doctor will either change the TARDIS console "desktop theme" for either an episode or short period or he will use an alternate console room like the wood panelled one that the 4th Doctor sometimes used.

er A Fix with Sontarans was part of another BBC show, Jim'll Fix it, I don't see how that fits with the rest? Seriously much as I hate the Asorbalof (which is more down to Peter Kay than the kid's design if I'm honest) what's wrong with involving the viewers in the show?

Hell is Steven Moffat rang me up and asked me to write an episode for free I'd bite his hand off...actually I'd probably offer to pay him

Remember money saved on Who can be spent elsewhere in programming (or if you're cynical on paying Jonathan Ross for 12 seconds)

Interesting to ponder how this console will feature. I can't imagine they'd build another set just for a one off, so just one part of the console, but if so how will it fit in I wonder?

The Doctor: "Oh, I thought my Tardis was bad... yours seems to be made of Crayloa and finger paint!"

And if anyone has seen pictures of the new Doctor it features a TARDIS that seems to have had a makeover insofar that it is now a more ultramarine colour and has a St. John's Ambulance badge like it had in the early days, so maybe the two are somehow linked: 'new' TARDIS, 'new' console.

I don't think they do that because they're trying to save money. If anything a cynical persion would say it's just a way to get more kiddies to watch Doctor Who.

BTW, is it just me or does "Blue Peter" sound kind of vulgar?

In the new DWM Moffat says that this console is NOT for the Doctor's TARDIS.

Given that one of the competition rules is that it has to include household objects in its design I'm expecting some sort of offbeat metafictiony story (perhaps the Doctor lite episode) involving a kid building his own TARDIS.
