The Best of Star Trek: Voyager DVD

So with Star Trek 2009 having been a success CBS has been releasing small volumes of episodes calling them "The Best of Star Trek" and "The Best of Star Trek: The Next Generation". It has already been said that there are no plans on the table for a "The Best of Star Trek: Voyager" DVD so here's my question:

CBS has changed their minds and are going to release the DVD. They contact you and ask you which four episodes of Voyager are the best in the series. They can be from any season, but you can only pick four total.

Which four episodes do you choose?

(This is hypothetical only)

I'd nominate

Scorpion
Year of Hell
The Killing Game
Timeless

Or if we're just talking one-part eps:

Faces
Dragon's Teeth
Prey
Timeless

1. "Scorpion". Yes, including a two-parter means you only get three episodes on the DVD, but that's what the TNG set did with BOBW, and "Scorpion" is basically Voyager's BOBW (yes, all things are relative...) Including this one pretty much rules out using any of the other Borg episodes to fill the remaining two hours.

2. "Living Witness". Including this one pretty much rules out any other Doctor-centric episodes like "Message in a Bottle" to fill the last slot.

3. "Counterpoint". Why not a captain-focused episode? (Although I wouldn't raise a fuss if something like "Timeless" or "Dragon's Teeth" were here instead).

I'm deliberately excluding Pathfinder and that arc because you don't see the main crew as much. Also because of the format, many of Voyager's better episodes get ruled out by virtue of being two-parters (I didn't want to have just two episodes): "Caretaker", "Year of Hell", and "Equinox".

As long as they stay away from the Borg material that is already on the Borg collective DVD set.

Heck, if it was me putting it together it would be all Barclay and EMH episodes! Well I can dream anyway.

"Resistance" as the best episode that has them caught on a planet and trying to get supplies (the basic Voyager problem).

"Year of Hell" as the worst case scenario of what might happen to them.

"Sacred Ground" as an interesting take on religious beliefs vs. science.

"Living Witness" because it studies the whole problem of "revisionist" history.

"Resistance" as the best episode that has them caught on a planet and trying to get supplies (the basic Voyager problem).

I agree!

Instead of "Year of Hell" for worst case scenario I would go with "Basics". I would also add in "Death Wish" and "Counterpoint". For sheer fun/comedy "Bride of Chaotica".

So a two-parter takes up two spots? Hmm... in that case my "Best of..." would only consist of Year of Hell and Scorpion. So I'll just limit myself to single episodes.

1) Before and After
2) Latent Image
3) Drone

?4) I would pick Living Witness, but I already have one Doctor episode... and I would like to pick a B'Elanna episode... so..

4) Dreadnought

Year of Hell, Timeless, and Living Witness for me. I seem to have an easier time choosing my favourite Voyager than the other series.

Deadlock - Everybody gets to do something and its a very good early Voyager episode.

Before and After - Excellent episode that spans an alternate entire future of Voyager, definitely worth putting in.

Prey- The kind of episode that make you want to clap at the end. The perfect introduction to Seven for a newbie.

Author, Author - sums up what the doctor was about while giving everyone something to do.

That would be a great intro to Voyager IMO.

There's a difference between the Best of and my favorite episodes. I agree with almost everyone that's gone before about Best of, so I'll just suggest some of my favorites.

Haunting of Deck 12 - closest thing to a ghost story (and much better than Sub Rosa from TNG)
Tinker Tenor Doctor Spy - Simply for the Doc's opening song!
Scientific Method - "These lab rats are fighting back" It was one of the earlier Seven Saves the day episodes, so it didn't bother me as much as the later ones.
Q2 - because 2 Qs are better than one! (and Q and the Grey is meh)
