Final weekend of TOSR?

Can't find any listings now after this weekend.

They may be wrapping things up with a replay of THE CAGE.

Anyone still have TOSR airing in their area after this weekend? (No. TV Land doesn't count. That's not TOSR...so far.)

Umm, they're already out on DVD. Have been for months. I don't think it's even on TV anymore.

^ No, it's still been airing each week. Don't know about future airings, but up through this weekend it's definitely still been on the air, even though the DVD's are out.

According to Yahoo's TV listings, WPIX in NY shows "The Cage" tonight, but next week's slot says "To Be Announced," so that sounds ominous.

Thank you for your uninformed and inattentive non-response.

The question was if anyone still has TOSR airing in their local area after this weekend, not if the DVDs exist (duh), or if TOSR ended long ago, which my first post indicated it had not.

My thanks to you others for your replies, and if anyone else knows anything...

Theres a local detroit area station showing them every weekday night at 10pm. Also on the weekends I think about 6 or 7.

Could I ask when this started, and if it's the original version or the remastered version?

KPDX in Portland is airing The Cage next Sunday along with another as yet unnamed episode, the description states: "Captain Kirk and his crew explore the cosmos, searching for new life and civilization while doing battle with the evil Romulan and Klingon empires."

The following Sunday shows it on the schedule but with no episode descriptions.

That may mean that they renewed the contract to continue to show episodes. I know some areas aren't doing that.

TOS-R is out of syndication now. There is no listing on CBS Paramount's syndication page for the series in 2009/10. They have rolled TNG back out in a five-a-week strip, however.

Interestingly TVLand seems to be returning to the Sunday morning airings.

Hmmm....

I've been checking, maybe for the last month or two, and it kept coming up as airing on TV Land.

Did they stop them for a while before this?

Here in the Michiana area, TOS-R had been running for the past 3 years on various channels in "First-run" syndication (although I think "The Cage" was the only "new" episode that last year). "Charlie X" and "The Cage" were the last 2 episodes shown on the CW station that carried it here. This week a different station has picked up TOS-R and is running it M-F at 7pm. So TOS-R is definitely still out there but I think it's just being syndicated as "old" reruns now. I guess it just depends whether or not the local stations think it's popular enough to buy and air in your area.

A third station in the area has also picked up TNG and is running it M-F at 1am. So we're in Trek heaven around here!!:techman:

I fuckin hate all of them!!! How dare they pull this from syndication. HOW DARE THEY. Channel 11 you go direct to hell WPIX to hell!!!!

I would mount a TVLand letter and email blitz...but I'm afraid I won't garner enough support from this board. TVLand claims if they get a couple of hundred letters/emails in one week they would make programming changes.

So are ya with me?????????? :techman:

WPIX or any other local station doesn't make the decision about what programs are available for syndication and what programs are not, that is made by the owner of the program, in this case CBS, who apparently has chosen not to to make TOSR available.

They may be trying to boost Trek's cable presence which has diminished in past years because of the syndicated run. Many cable outlets want an exclusive right to a program. (I know TOS and TOSR are technically different programs, but to the average joe they're the same.)

As I reported earlier, Ch. 22-2 in South Bend, IN has just started running TOS-R Monday-Friday at 7pm...so TOS-R must still be being syndicated out by CBS/Paramount to local stations that want to purchase it. It was pre-empted Monday by tennis but aired "Corbomite Maneuver" on Tuesday and "Mudd's Women" tonight. Maybe other stations might pick it up if they know there's a demand for it in their areas.
