Kanye West Interrupts Taylor Swift

I thought he was going to cry for a moment too.
For those who don't know or missed it Leno asked him what his mother would say about his actions on the stage.
He did get his own segment...

Seconds after Kanye West stormed the stage at the VMAs like a comic book villain and almost stole that glass moon man trophy from little Taylor Swift, there was much Twittering about whether it was a “publicity stunt.”
Um, no.
When a fringe actress shows up on the red carpet dressed like a Marsupial, that’s a publicity stunt.
When a reality show couple gets into a big fight outside the Ivy, that’s a publicity stunt.
When a troubled bimbo exits a limo in a mini-skirt and no panties, that’s a publicity stunt.
But when you’re already one of the world’s most recognizable and successful entertainers, rushing the stage at a secondary awards show and throwing a temper tantrum isn’t a publicity stunt.
It’s just stupid.
Let’s put it this way: if a 10-year-old pulled the same nonsense at a Little League awards ceremony, his parents would be mortified, the other kids would be stunned and you’d want to seek immediate counseling for the child.

I'm a little surprised to see Richard Roeper commenting on this, but he's right on the money.
The clip of West on Leno's show is up on Youtube, so I watched it. Didn't West's mother die last year (due to complications from surgery, IIRC)? Good on Jay for having the guts to ask him whether he thought his mother would be disappointed in him. Maybe in the future Kanye will actually think before doing something stupid (not likely, I know, but here's hoping).

I hadn't heard of Taylor Swift myself. But if you're so utterly uninterested in pop that you don't recognise the names Kanye West or Beyonce, I have to wonder what you're doing in this thread other than to flaunt your detachment.
Anyway I think as punishment Kanye should have to record his next song without autotune.
I'm fairly confident at this point the incident was not staged, however, there is one small detail that no one has really addressed.
The Best Female Video was the only award presented on Sunday (other than two special pre-show awards) that had six nominees. All other awards had five nominees.
Up until yesterday, if you had gone to MTV's website, you would have only seen five nominees. Beyonce's video was not listed. (It's listed now, undoubtedly because of this incident.)
So, it appears that Beyonce was a late addition to the list of nominees. Why? A conspiracy theorist might say she was added just to give Kanye something to rant about.

Yeah apparently not so much. I didn't hear much booing, in fact I heard a pretty crazy applauding crowd. I was quite shocked and did not think he deserved any applause whatsoever. They should have booed him.
Well the audiences on those talk shows are usually primed to obey the applause signs whether they want to or not.
And I really doubt the thing was staged. Taylor Swift probably would have had a much better response afterwards, and the broadcast wouldn't have become such a jumbled mess at that point. Unlike the Eminem stunt, it was obvious the producers were completely caught off guard here.

Taylor Swift was on The View this morning. She had been booked as a guest for months -- what timing. Naturally, she was asked about the whole incident with West and what went through her mind when she was on stage. She seemed to downplay the fact that it probably upset her, but she did admit that she was quite dumbfounded right after it happened (as most would be, I'm sure). She also said that she would accept an apology from West, but, at present, she'd yet to hear from him personally.
I still wish Pink would have gotten hold of the SOB. His mansack would now be her coin purse.
