Am I The Only Person That Just Isn't Into The Beatles?

I haven't heard all of their music, but the songs I have heard just haven't really done anything for me. A few of them are catchy and the rest of them sort of blend together. I think I'm completely alone in feeling like this!

I'm going to a Beatles Rock Band party in a few weeks and I'm not looking forward to it at all. :(

The Beatles, Ive always said, are the most overrated band ever. They weren't versatile instrumentalists, and after listening to about 6 tunes straight they grow weariy, and people put them on a pedastal.

That said, it is somewhat well deserved. They did bring rock and roll into the public zeitgeist and they did solidify the rock and roll song structure. Also, some songs are very well written.

So, they are both one of the most important and the most overrated bands ever. There you have it.

The night they appeared on Ed Sullivan, I was upstairs watching "The Three Lives of Thomasina" on Disney...for the third time.

They were good, a fun part of my childhood, but I am not a big fan.

I wasn't a huge fan until I took a rock music class in college and really started analyzing some of their music. Listening to their catalog as a whole makes you appreciate the changes and growth their music went through. It is important to remember that everyone was kind of following their lead back then. A lot of the innovations we take for granted in rock music today was pioneered by them.

I'm a massive Beatles fan, bought the remastered cds and premium edition rock band this week.

that said, it's alright to not like the beatles. it's not really that important.

I feel almost exactly the same. I do have a preference for some of their earlier songs but I find a lot of their songs get really tiring on multiple listens.

I gotta say though what I've seen of that Rock Band stuff looks pretty cool, maybe it will give you a different appreciation of them?

^ I just tried the Beatles version for the first time last night. It's alright, but I much prefer the regular version of Rock Band. Plus I pretty much only do drums, and none of the songs we did were that exciting for the drums. I'm going to try some more out this weekend though, and I'm hoping familiarity will help out a bit with enjoyment.

They're one of those bands I respect because I'm sure they influenced a lot of bands I do like, but their music itself bores me. I prefer what evolved from it.

Their music has so much variety that I think most people can find at least some part of it that they like. I like the catchiness of the early tunes, but my favorite is The White Album...check it out if you haven't heard it yet. It's less about catchy songs and more about interesting and unique music.

No. I've never been a fan of "The Beatles". I could probably pull out one or two songs that I like if I tried, but all in all the band (their music) has never grabbed on strongly to me.

Pretty much my thoughts. I thought they were good but nothing special before I learned more about them. Now I appreciate them a lot more (although I'll usually be in a mood for one era or another of the Beatles and hate everything else at that moment).

As John Lennon said, "[Ringo] isn't even the best fucking drummer on the Beatles." His drum parts tend to be fairly pedestrian and mundane, but he was always steady, so you can't really complain too much (plus he's the only Beatle who seemed to know how lucky they all were and not take it for granted).

I've long since grown bored of them.

Yeah that Elvis guy wasn't popular at all. And Chuck Berry, who the fuck was he, anyway?

That was the 50s, this was 1964. By this point, you have Neil Sedaka, Fabian, and Chubby Checker. I think you can thank the Beatles for blowing all that shit out of the water.

I am with you Kestra. I just don't get their music. I understand their significance and comprehend the history but the music itself just doesn't float my boat... or yellow submarine. But I also feel the same way about Elvis and The Rolling Stones so I guess I am not the best person to ask. :rommie:

But if we are talking about the 60's, I say give me a little soul like Ike & Tina Turner, James Brown or Lou Rawls. And you can't forget the girls. The Shirelles, Patsy Cline Dusty Springfield blow me away. As for Rock, I am more of a Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd kind of guy but Creedence Clearwater Revival is still an old favorite too.
