Star Trek Acronyms

Doran

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
We use a lot of them, especially on-line. I thought this would be fun, let's see how many we can dig up.

Example: TOS?

Of course the answer is The Original Series. Post an Acronym, and the person who answers gets to post the next one. Here's my first one:

GNDN

Got the answer?

Shazam is being persnickety - not that there's anything wrong with that ;) - but he is also right. Technically, an acronym is an abbreviation that is pronounced like a word - e.g., NASA and UNICEF. There aren't that many actual acronyms in Trek, now that I think about it.

OK, at the risk of going off-topic - anyone know what EPS was an initialism for? I googled EPS, but I don't think Trip spent time maintaining Encapsulated Postscript conduits or Earnings Per Share conduits...

Actually, I think that gets us back on topic. Memory Alpha is a little less definitive than usual, but it seems to be saying that it stands for electro-plasma system, a.k.a., electro-plasma distribution network.

But I had to look pretty hard to find it, so I don't think I've earned the chance to post the next one.

Ha, this is apparently sort of true, if a little pedantic. Mine still works though! It's pronounced "yoospah"
