Lonely Among Us Random Hilarity

Danny99

Vice Admiral

This may be horrible of me, but when Picard (under the alien's control) begins to zap the bridge crew, Troi has a line "This is blinding me!" The next shot is of blind Geordi at the helm, writhing in pain.

Am I only one that finds this odd, let alone hilarious?

There are two scenes that always elicit a chuckle. The first, is when Picard plants his feet atop his ready room desk after being confronted by Troi and Crusher and proclaims, "I'm sorry, I really am too busy for this kind of nonsense." The other is when Picard replies incredulously to LaForge about a system malfunction, "Malfunctioning?! You're wrong look again"

In that scene, it always seems like Patrick Stewart falls out of the early gruff Picard tone and it's always brought me out of the story for some reason.

Rewatched this one last night. It is so bad its funny. Kinda like Spock's Brain. I did laugh at Troi's "Its blinding me", especially since no one else seemed to have a problem looking at it.

And Picard's bizarro behavior was a hoot! What else did he have to do, a soft shoe on the console before anyone got up the courage to relieve him???

But that was the whole idea, wasn't it? Stewart was playing Picard differently because Picard was possessed by an alien force.

I always had problems understanding exactly wtf was going on in this ep when I was a kid.

Well, Betazoids do have black eyes - no visible iris, or at least their irises are as black as their pupils - so maybe their pupils let in extra light.
