I just finished this book (yeah I am behind) and my only complaint........there was no romantic development between Geordi and the Aventine's chief engineer!

Yeah, that thread from Destiny has not really been followed up on.
The scene between Geordi and Leishman is on the Destiny Director's Cut DVD...

Were the Enterprise and Aventine ever in the same place, so that they could get together? (in LtP) To my recollection, no.
No, the Aventine was in A Singular Destiny. It didn't even appear in LtP.
I think it would be awesome to continue a cross-series, long distance relationship between two major characters!
So that whichever series you read, you get that character's perspective on things (and, equally, if you read both, you get both).
At the very least, it would be something interesting to involve Geordi in, who hasn't had an interesting storyline of decent length in a long while!

Sounds good to me! Geordi deserves a break, and a good storyline.

It doesn't mean that Mr. LaForge has never had a relationship or hooked up with anyone, we just don't know about. I'm sure an adult with LaForge's looks, and charm has had qute a few lady friends here and there...then again he did have an unhealthy obession with a hologrphic woman...which led into real life...which makes on wonder...maybe something bad happened to him once in life which prevents him from getting close to anyone.
Who knows? There are so few Geordi stories that don't involve his VISOR or Mister Data...

LaForge may be thrown a bone every once in a while, but he's hopelessly unlucky in love (a long-time victim of I Like You Only As A Friend Syndrome). His little scene with Leishman in the Aventine's Jefferies tube was cute, but I never really expected it to go any further than that myself.
And given how much of the Enterprise's senior staff are hooked up these days, LaForge almost has to stay single to represent the bachelor officers, IMO...

There's an idea. And you could be right about something happenng in the past. Got an idea abotu the type of character I'd like to see Geordi with - but I'm not telling!
