What about that other five. There's money to be made there./Do we really need another one of those?
Aren't we already made out as fools to 95% of the population!

Yeah, I didn't really appreciate the movie's perpetuating negative stereotypes about Star Trek fans either. I didn't find the movie very insightful or entertaining. It just made me feel sorry for all the terribly screwed up people in it, and even made me a little ashamed of being a Star Trek fan, just because it sort of associates me with those weirdos by default.
I loved the first one, but have never seen the second one.
I have both of the other Trekkies. Back in the mid 1990's there were plenty of Star Trek conventions to go to, and today there are none in my area. When I watch Trekkies it almost makes me feel like the convention is in my home.I like watching the two Trekkies movies -- the second one shows slightly more normal fans, the guy who made his apartment into a Voyager enclave notwithstanding. They're like...convention substitutes for me. (If you only experienced the extreme parts of conventions, I suppose.)
As much as I like the "Trekkies" movies, I wish Rod Roddenberry could get the money to finish "Trek Nation" which is supposed to take a friendlier look at Trek fandom. Plus, I'm in it.

It seems like a good time, with the new movie and the resurgence of interest in Trek.
