While getting closer to Venus, some crew members are confronted with memories of past actions and struggle with guilt. When one of them gets into a life-threatening situation, the team unites to save her.

This episode should be good...b/c *everything's* better with bacon!!!*

*(Btw; the reason the bacon doesn't float in 0-G, is b/c they sprayed it with magnetic nanoparticles...mmm....nanoparticles...*drool*....)

Saw the episode on Friday. Parts of it were pretty intense. I'll talk about that a bit more later on.

Minor spoilers ahead...

Two of the women lost body parts.

Isn't this like any other episode of the show so far?

Okay, Paula lost a thumb. I thought that was pretty intense stuff. I'm relieved that they managed to re-attach it so that it'll be as good as new, but at the same time, a little disappointed that the whole thing was a reset. Guess Zoe's uterus isn't a lost cause either. She can either get a new one or Beta can regrow it. Yeah, I do wonder if they'll go the "mystical" route with that.

I also liked what I saw of future Earth. Looked like they were trying a little harder this time to give us something eventhough it was just a bus stop and a foyer.

As usual, the flashbacks weren't handled well. Going back and forth during the two opperations got a bit confusing.

Well that maybe so,but you gotta admit this episode was well acted well written, and I still think the science is right on with Micro-gravity areas of the ship as well as everybody working together to save Paula's life from a freak accident.
I saw the flashbacks as giving us the back stories on our crew ,and showing two operations the only link I see is that Dr.Mintz saved two lives even though they were five years apart in time.

That's my two cents

Is it too much to hope for that Steve dies before the end of the series run? He's like the Neelix of the crew. He might be the worst regular character in all of sci fi TV history.

And to think none of this would've happened to Paula if she had just let Steve freeze to death.

:wtf: Don't point your phaser at Steven! He's the only bit of decent man-totty! (Okay, you have your All-American clean-cut types but dear Gawds they're boring...)

Otherwise... was anyone else vaguely disturbed by the blood FX? So used to seeing blood-spray/ splatter and the like but floating calmly in the zero-grav... quite eerie! :cardie:

It was a decent episode. Blood looked a bit fake. I really wouldn't mind Paula and Steve out of the show would pick things up a bit more.

Also if the rabbit is born in a zero g environment how will it develop the necessary muscles etc to handle G environments? Isn't that chick pulling some crazy animal cruelty by letting it live.

They could take it to the crew quarters section and raise it there where there is gravity?

In the final episode, the rabbit mutates due to some spacial anomaly and kills the entire crew.

Perhaps thru some genetic screw-up, the rabbit will reproduce asexually, and they'll have a the "rabbits in Australia" problem.

The reason I found this silly in the teaser last week is that... how do you get crushed by a box? Seriously, these people are the best of the best? There's more work safety on your average construction site. :p

Average.

Some good bloody scenes, but that stupid rabbit thing is driving me crazy.

I'm assuming they'll have some rationale for it later...??

Maybe she plans to spray it with nanoparticles. ;)

Well, they do use it on hare.

You know, until the last third of the show (I think about the time the gunshot wound showed up in the flashbacks), I thought it was a bit "below average" for DG. It finally picked up as the different stories came together.

Do all of the crewmen have something they feel they need to do penance for? Yes, remorse or regret played throughout this episode in particular but it seems like through the whole show as well.

Donner - left two astronauts (including his girlfriend) on Mars to die
Zoe - had an abortion she's apparently now regretting
Mintz - called the airstrike on the school building, killing innocent children

Wonder if/what the other three have. Shaw also was on the Mars mission. Crane has her secret embryo. Do these count as regrettable events or is there something else? Maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

Even Ajay has remorse or regret of his being dumped from the ship.

This show would be just as enjoyable for me even without the mysterious Beta.

With all the effort they are spending on trying to get the science accurate (or at least give us some plausible explanation even if people think it's ridiculous) the lack of time lag in communications is really griping me.

I think DG definately would've been better on DVD viewing. I really hope the EP wrap everything up b/c from the ratings it has been pure and utterly dismal.

I saw this show for the first time last night. What episode number is this and can someone give me some background to it? They are going to Venus? How are they going to survive the extreme temperatures?

I'm not sure I'll make it through the season. I recently watched the fake documentary this show is based on, Space Odyssey - Voyage To The Planets, and that was interesting, exciting and gripping. This show, however, really isn't. It's all a bit boring, and the plots come off as trite and contrived.
