the HAT man...

why is it, either in STAR TREK III or ENTERPRISE, that when ever STAR TREK characters wear hats they are wearing goofy looking BALL CAPS??? What is it with that??? Looks like something out of the old Flash Gordon stuff from the 50s...

The only one who wore cool hats was Guinan and Kai-winn/opaca...

Do you think Ball Caps will be around in the 23 century and beyond? mmmmm...I don't know. With Global Warming getting as bad as Al Gore claims, I think Sombreros will be the 'hat' of the day by then!!

Well Pike has a cool hat...TOS and the other series really needed the away team jackets and stuff like the movies, it makes sense that they would have some sort of protective
outwear other then just the uniforms. In Forbidden Planet they have two types of hat to wear, I thought that was really cool.

Considering that the navy and other armed forces have, for years, included the "ball cap" to the official fatigue uniform, it shouldn't be to uncommon to see it into the future.

And the Forbidden Planet reference is a good one as it and other 1950's sci-fi films (Flash Gordon, Destination Moon, ect.) have shown American "astromen" sporting visor style caps.

Also, I predict the "banana hammock" type Speedo will become part of the male space faring future star travelers standard issue to woo alien ladies (and a few gents... no judgement here). The thong as well will be in form for our lady brand of brave rocketeers. In fact the future of space exporation will by ripe with available hotties from beyond the moon... our brave men and women star flyers will need appropiate attire.

Noooooo! Be strong and say no to the budgie-smuggler...

With Enterprise, I thought it made perfect sense, especially when you consider their regular duty uniforms are basically flight suits like are worn by modern-day pilots (both atmospheric and spacecraft). AND I think you see Air Force and NASA crew members wear hats like that with unit patches and so on--so to me, as an Air Force brat, it actually seemed more NATURAL, more real-life military than any uniform I'd ever seen on Trek.

I don't care what anybody else thinks about the ENT uniforms...to me, they seemed real. :)
