Tentative Covers & Descriptions for Star Trek Books Spring 2010

TOS is my least favourite Trek novel category, and initially I thought early 2010 might be a low point for me in regards to Trek literature. These descriptions have raised my expectations considerably, however . Maybe the first half of 2010 won't represent a drop in my interest after all!

Also, given our recent discussions and theorizing about Orion culture, the David Stern novel should prove very interesting.

I know these are only very very basic early descriptions, but if they are even close to what is described these sound pretty cool to me. These covers are also alot better than the last few we've seen IMO.
Does anyone know how much time Unspoken Truth book covers?

Well...Margaret already covered Saavik's childhood in Pandora... So unless she's gonna cover those same scenes again from Saavik's POV....

The Pandora Principle was written by Carolyn Clowes, not MWB. I don't think I've ever read it. Perhaps I should before MWB's book comes out...

I think the character images are intended to look like stained glass, with the "brick" pattern as a surrounding mosaic.

Those are images of Kang and Decius, respectively. It may be that those specific individuals are featured for a reason.

It's a stained-glass design. It will surely look different in color. I guess the idea is that "seven deadly sins" is a religious concept, hence church, hence stained glass. (And I have to say, I've always found that an odd basis for a Star Trek anthology, of all things. I'm looking forward to the stories, but the overall theme seems kind of incongruous.)

“I’m relying somewhat on Carolyn Clowes’ excellent novel The Pandora Principle,” she reveals. “In the novelisation of The Wrath of Khan, Vonda McIntyre makes passing reference to Saavik’s being half-Romulan and an orphan from a planet called Hellguard, but isn’t able to go into a lot of detail. Clowes takes that concept much further, showing us a feral child surviving on a hostile world when the Romulans abandon it. I’m paying homage to that in a number of flashbacks, tweaking it a bit to fit my story."

Not that ambitious, since some of those years have been explored by other writers, and I didn't want to step on anyone's toes.

The story begins at the start of TVH and covers slightly more than a year.

Not really. I gave her one little scene in Dwellers in the Crucible way back when, but that's all. So it was interesting finding out what she could tell me this time around.
