who saw Menagerie?

And I mean when they showed it last year at the theaters for that special viewing? I did. And I tell you what, I was really impressed with the amount of people who showed up. I thought it was going to be me, and a bunch of old-farts. And instead of the theatre smelling like pop-corn and candy, I thought for sure that the scent of BENGAY would resonate!!

But I was wrong...it was real fun to see it up there on that screen. I wish they would have done it again and maybe paired to great episodes, (CITY and DOOMSDAY)....

Sounds cool! I remember years ago, when they first unearthed the original footage for The Cage, it was shown in New York City's Museum of Broadcasting. Me and a good friend attended. A small audience, but what impressed me was how theatrical it was. They don't make pilots like that any more! -- RR

I saw it at the Century City AMC in Los Angeles. Rod Roddenberry and Malachi Thorne were in attendance. I managed to snag a poster that they were giving away. The episodes looked damn fine up there on the big screen.

Of course, that wasn't the first time I'd saw Thorne while I was living in Los Angeles. I think he lived rather close to me, either in Westwood or Culver City; I'd always see him at the Westside Pavillion.

The official site from Paramount UK site hasn't been updated since that event.

I have to admit as fun as it was, given a limited cinema release I probably would've restored even more of The Cage into The Menagerie... Given that back in 1966, they needed to fill two 50 minute slots in the production schedule quickly, with Desliu getting two shows out for the price of one. A film has no such limitation. Some slight re-editing could've made it an uninterrupted film of 2 hours or more.

I saw it up here.. The projector wasn't bright enough, but the Enterprise certainly looked awesome on the big screen!!

I saw it. Adelaide, Australia. Thought it was amazing. They put on an extra screening due to the demand. Also, the audience was of all ages/backgrounds.

THE WOMEN!!!

I saw it also. Should have brought a seat cushion. It was fun though. There were a fair number of people laughing at it, especially on the hilariously B-movie-esque line quoted above.

It was a smart way to market TOS-RM, too bad the format wasn't the right pick.

Sounds like fun! it's amazing how good an episode it is considering it was made to repurpose an unused pilot.

Speaking of "The Cage," the restored version of which I just saw on the S3 DVD--who is Number One supposed to be? Is she a human or an alien woman? We also get to see that Majel Barrett is a decent actress from her role in this.

She was Pike's human first officer. She was cool, logical, and suppressed her emotions.

A freak transporter accident merged certain aspects of her intelligence and personality into the, at one time exciteable, Mr. Spock.

After she lost those traits to the Vulcan, she decided to become a nurse.

That was actually the first episode(s) of TOS that I ever saw. It was the introductory tape being offered Columbia House, and I waited six and a half ****ing weeks for it to come.

I still remember that when I think of the two-day shipping that I usually get with Amazon.com.

I saw it in Kennesaw, GA.

My poor wife nearly died of boredom.

Give her credit though..as I did for my wife because she, too, was bored. But, overtime, she has become a big TREK fan. Though she can't stand TOS...she is totally a NINE'er fan...

A woman I was dating insisted on watching Star Trek in bed one evening because I spoke so well of it - she'd never seen it.

Of course, it was one of those SCIFI Channel "Trek special editions" where they stretched the running time out to an hour and a half with a lot of interview material (and commercials) such that it becomes pointless to try to follow the plot or become emotionally engaged unless one already knows the show. Also, the episode was "A Taste Of Armageddon" which - despite being one of my ten or fifteen favorite Trek episodes - is one of the more ponderous stories.

She couldn't stay awake and I didn't get laid that night. Curse you, SyFy!
