tattoos

None.

I asked Hubby if he'd like to get one, or both of us. He wasn't interested and I was never interested enough to get one on my own.

Very.

Tattoos can and should be an art form. Now, the 18-year old girl who gets a tramp stamp probably isn't thinking like that, but some people do. One of my old teachers (married, has 2 adopted children, one of the most mature people I've ever met) got his first tattoo a few years ago when he turned 35.

Maturity has nothing to do with the number of kids you have or how you got them or your age or whatnot..

That out of the way; feeling the need to disfigure yourself is nevertheless a sign of immaturity.

I don't see it as disfiguration or immaturity at all. People like to express themselves and enhance themselves in all sorts of ways. Sometimes this is a more superficial and changeable form, such as clothing and accessories. Sometimes it's hair color or eye color or makeup. Sometimes it's piercing or tattoos.

Tattoos hold no attraction for me, personally, but there's nothing wrong with the sentiment behind it.

Some people truly do disfigure their bodies with a different intent behind it, but even in that case I would consider it to be part of a deeper psychological problem and something not to be casually labelled as "immature".

I don't see how you can make this statement.

And then make this statement.

Everybody is different. Some people do things for immature reasons. Other people don't. Tattoos have been around for a long time and have existed for many different reasons.

Just because you don't like them doesn't make them immature. I have one on my back. I'm certainly not disfigured. :wtf:

What is it about my statements that confuses you?

Having a symbol from some TV-show on your back isn't really a sign of maturity, is it? -I mean; I have met you on this BBS and have come to like you as a poster and a great personality -but surely I wouldn't consider you mature.

And do you -honestly and in all seriousness- think that that they make you look good?

I think tattoos are fucking ugly but you're way out of line here. The only one who is being immature is you.

Anyways, I think we can surely agree to disagree on the whole tattoo thing, I think it's a sure sign of something missing in the person brandishing them and there are people that think they look good with doodles on their skin.

I don't think we're going to reach any kind of agreement arguing about it on-line (or elsewhere), so let's just drop it, OK?

Yeah, I notice you're ready to drop it after you got your last little dig in about them having something missing. Trust me, you ain't helping your point at all here.

Oh, but I'm not opposed to continuing this, I just don't see the point. Tat's are for people I believe must be missing something -why else would they want to add to themselves? -and I don't understand that need!
