Batman: Arkham Asylum IS AWESOME, buy it now

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum demo

For anyone interested I did some research on IMDB and the following characters are voiced by the same voice actors as Batman TAS:
Batman
Joker
Harley Quinn
Penguin
Two Face
Mr Freeze
Poison Ivy
Clayface
Alfred
Commissioner Gordon (though his voice sounds very different in the demo)

The following characters have different voice actors:
Barbra Gordon
The Riddler
Killer Croc (done by the voice actor who did Mr Freeze on The Batman)

This is not entirely accurate. The voice of Commissioner Gordon in the Animated Series was Bob Hastings, who is now 84. Voice actor Tom Kane plays Gordon in Arkham Asylum. There has also been no mention of Alfred having any role in the game, and I would imagine that the involvement of Efrem Zimbalist, Jr., would have been publicized long ago.

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum demo

And by "the voice actor who did Mr Freeze on The Batman" I assume you're talking about THE Clancy Brown? Clancy Brown who played The Kurgan in Highlander, Lex Luthor in numerous animated shows, Sergeant Zim in Starship Troopers and Danziger in Earth 2, that Clancy Brown, yes?

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum demo

^^ Please spoiler tag spoilers properly.

A little late on this, but I loooooved the demo. I really, really need to get this game. It's such a comfort having BTAS voice actors as well, it almost makes up for the games frankly horrendous art style.

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum demo

Counting the days till release day. Can't wait to play the hell out of this game. It's awesome having KC back as Batman and I really dig the art style.

Me too. I think I am going to reserve the special edition, 'cause that batarang sounds awesome.

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum demo

I loved the look and feel of the demo - being Batman is awesome - but I'm not sure I'll be able to play it with a mouse and keyboard. I might keep practising to see if I can get better, but it won't be a day one purchase if I don't get used to the controls. I will also wait for reviews because although I'm sure it's a good game, I'm not sure how long it'll be, and game length is a big issue for me these days - so many are far too short.

You could always buy a wired 360 controller for your computer.

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum demo

I've been experimenting in the final room of the demo and I found a cool take down. I isolated one of the guys and did on inverted takedown from one of the gargoyles (so that he is hanging). After grappling to the closest perch, I waited for one of the guys to check him out hanging. Then I used the batrang to cut the rope and the knocked out guy fell on top of the investigating thug and knocked him out.

This kind of experimenting really makes me hope that the rest of the game is this deep for how you can approach situations.
Seriously? I am definitely going to have to try that out. I wonder if this is the tip of the iceberg or the bottom of the well. My biggest fear is that this game will be monotonous in its gameplay.

I've bolded the word I'm not keen on but I am certainly considering it. I'm just not sure if there are many other times I'd use it, although Street Fighter 4 is a possibility.

You can get wired controllers for pretty cheap on eBay. I see a few buy it nows that are just over $20.

I got mine originally for Bioshock and Gears of War before I got a 360. Now I use it for tons of PC games, though I don't play too many any more. But very worth it if you're a PC gamer. It's a great controller.

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum demo

The reviews have started to pour in. Check out gamerankings.com, but some of them have put "Game of the Year" and "Batman" in the same sentence.

I got my pre-order for the CE from Amazon in today (10% off compared to the normal store prices and no taxes). Final bill was $95 to get it on the day of release compared to $100+ tax from the stores.

IGN gave it 9.2 I think and Gametrailers gave it a score of 9.0

Re: Batman: Arkham Asylum demo

I'm sure anyone Canadian has already seen this by now, but pretty much every store ever is selling the game for 40 bucks on launch. Seems to be a Walmart thing that just started a chain reaction with every other major retailer in the country.
