USS Mayflower

MapleJack

Ensign
Red Shirt
In case this covered in another, I apologize for bringing it back up in advance.

I was thinking recently about the scene when the Enterprise arrives at Vulcan and nearly runs into what seems like a giant Kelvin type saucer hull's remains. Largely intact remains. This made me wonder a few things, considering it seemed that most of the fleet was made up of ships similar to the Kelvin in hull and nacelle design. It appeared that none of the ships at the dock with the Enterprise were that size.

So, I was thinking that the Mayflower was perhaps a larger scale transport that was docked at another space dock in Earth Orbit, since I think it was mentioned on the assignment list that was spoken in the film.

A saucer that size, appearing to me as being as wide across as the Enterprise is long at the least, could really only be for large scale moves of people, equipment and the such. Then there's the name, Mayflower, a ship noted for bringing colonists to America. So I think perhaps this was one more Starfleet starship design that we didn't really get to see and has left me wondering what it fully looked like. The number of warp nacelles and engineering nacelles, that sort. Basically a colony transport that was going to be used to evacuate the Vulcans, but...

Add to that more then one Starfleet space dock in orbit. I wonder if it was close to the one we saw, or further away. Like say, what we saw was over San Francisco and the other is over Pearl Harbor or New York or Newport.

Thoughts? :)

1. The movie makes it clear that there were only seven starships besides the Enterprise, both at the station and during the battle over Vulcan with the Narada. At least five were mentioned in dialog: The Hood, Farragut, Truman, Antares, and Walcott. Two other ships were listed in the Blu-Ray extras: The Defiant and the Newton. Although the letters "-LOWE-" can be seen on a wrecked saucer, there's nothing in dialog to indicate a vessel called Mayflower.

2. The large saucer that the Enterprise tries to avoid hitting has been proven to be the Farragut's saucer, not the Mayflower's.

3. Scales in this movie changed from moment to moment, depending on what visual was needed at the time. All of the other ships were smaller than the Enterprise when shown docked at the station, but when it came time to show the above scene, the Farragut's saucer was upscaled just for it.

she did have 4 nacelles.

that would make sense seeing that there was no plans for combat, and evacuation was also planned.

I thought I saw the name Mayflower on the hull, but could be wrong. It's been months since I saw the film.

Really? Again, it's been months, so I could wrong.

I noticed that sizes changed that way. I thought the ships looked about the same size as the Enterprise at the dock scene.

Hmmm, this could then be applied to the Farragut then.

But it appears I'm wrong.
