"Clearly" is apparently in the eye of the beholder. Maybe it's "clear" in some photos, but not in the OP one, at least not to me.

I have to think if it was that clear to the officials, "testing" wouldn't take very long or be very elaborate.

The main thing that's fishy is that she wasn't even known in any athletics scene.. she/he simply burst onto the scene a short while ago and puts the best runners to shame by winning with such a large margin.

Now while this simply may be a huge talent and good training her looks invite comments about female chinese swimmers whose shoulders would put trained men to shame.

She just doesn't have any female characteristics but even that is no proof (some weightlifting/discus throwing/strength athletics women do look more like men).

However i agree that this could have been handled with a bit more tact.

She's 18. 18 year-olds burst on to the scene all the time, usually when they make the transition from junior to senior athletics. And she has plenty female characteristics.

She grew up in one of the most impoverished areas of South Africa and has only had a real coach since January.

It's really not uncommon for *any* athlete to post huge improvements once they start serious training.

I don't get why people are surprised when they see a jacked up chick who looks like a guy. She obviously works out a lot and is very fit. Look at female bodybuilders. A lot of them look masculine because of the testosterone.

I think the biggest difference here is that this one doesn't fix up her brows and has a boyish haircut. Other than that, at certain angles, I noticed a feminine jaw but maybe it was just me.


Either way, it's sad that people go spreading shit like this about an 18 year old girl instead of focusing on her winnings and hard work.
