Scrubs Season 9 News/Spoilers

Just a little blurb to start, but I figured I'd get a thread going for casting and spoiler news as it comes in.

From The Hollywood Reporter - "Dave Franco ("Superbad") has joined ABC's comedy "Scrubs" as a regular on "Scrubs," which is shifting its setting to a medical school next season, Franco will play Cole, a charming, conservative, confidently stupid and incredibly entitled medical student whose family donated a wing to the school. With his arrogance and erroneous medical decisions he becomes an enormous irritant to Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley)."

What are you talking about. Scrubs has no season nine. Can't hear you. Lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala

Come on. You've got to at least give it a chance. I'll be one of the first to kick the show to the curb if the new season sucks, but if it's good and funny then I'll be happy to have it back for another season or two. It has most of the same people working on it, both in front and behind the camera, so it can't change all that much.

I'll give the show a chance, but I consider it to be more of a spin-off with the same name rather than an actual season nine.

^ Ausselio reported that the title will be changed a little but still be season 9.

And there is no Voyage, Enterprise, Star Wars prequels, and TNG movies either. :p

Plus the title will most likely be Shrubs: Interns or something stupid. Even if it has the same name, who cares? Give it a shot, if you like it good, if not then there was always the season 8 finale. As the creator said, even if he messes it up that shouldn't take away from the other 8 seasons.

I'm so not looking forward to this new series, I enjoy JD too much. It just won't be the same without him.

After checking wikipedia and imdb to find this guy, I found out he played "Greg the Soccer Player" in Superbad. Anyone remember who that is? I wonder if this guy even will have a major role.

He'll be there, in 6-8 episodes, of the season. I'm not sure how many episodes there will be in this season. 13? 22?

Also Eliot will be there the same amount of Ep's. But maybe different ones then J.D.

Alan Sepinwall has a good interview up with Bill Lawrence. Lawrence says he wanted to change the title to Scrubs: Med, but ABC was more concerned about keeping the brand.

It'll be interesting to see who they hire as the female lead/narrator.

And I love the visual here:

The main set we built, besides the new hospital, is a huge auditorium lecture hall where John McGinley lectures the new students. And he starts out saying he thinks of them all as tiny assassins who wander around the hospital killing people.

ABC doesn't want the name change because if it's a spin-off then the episodes would be sold for cheaper than if it was Scrubs season 9.
