Lov'n my wii wii

If you're looking for multiplayer fun Robert I would highly recommend both Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Brothers Brawl, both are tons of fun to play with a couple of people sitting next to you.
New Super Mario Brothers Wii will be coming out this fall, featuring 4 player Mario co-op action, and it will almost certainly be another great game for the entire family.

Yes..my wife and son are all over that!! Thanks for the tip. I'm going to get MADDEN 2010 this week on it and see if i like it..we'll see...

Rob

Let me know how Madden is if you do get it. I had 08 and it was buggy as hell. Controls were a sloppy mess, and there were freeze bugs and graphical glitches galore. Then I heard 09 didn't do anything to fix the football engine, and they just focused on the "All-Play" system, so I skipped it. Supposedly, '10 is a ground up rewrite of everything, so I'm hoping they finally got it right.

I played Super Smash Brothers Brawl over a dates house, I thought it was the Gamecube version. The series really is stale.

You must not be a hardcore Smash player since they all hate Brawl.

It's not really fair to call the series stale when it's only had 3 games and Melee came out 6 years before Brawl. Sure the gameplay is pretty similar to Melee but with such a long time between games I don't think it's possible for the series to feel stale. A series like Call of Duty sure since they come out every year, but not Smash.

Where exactly do you think they should take the series?

I want a Mario "Grand Theft Auto" game -- picking up "princesses" to take in your kart to dark areas for a little health-filling action, getting into fireflower fights with the koopa police, the truth about what mushrooms really do for you...

I really hate my Wii. It sits there, gathering dust, mocking me. It says "I cost £175, roflharris". It taunts me.

Well I can't quite say I agree with you. I hate the Wii and find it to embody everything that is wrong with gaming today. Super Mario Galaxy is the only game I've truly enjoyed on the Wii.

But hey, to each their own. :techman:

I would just very much like you to elaborate on that statement.

Personally, I could not possibly disagree with you more. I feel just the opposite, that the 360 and the PS3 embody "wrong" and the Wii, while sure as hell not perfect, is the start of making things right again.

I very much disagree about the PS3 and 360 being anything remotely 'wrong'.

I have all three consoles and they all are great for different reasons. When I want to play more 'happy' and 'fun' types of games, I throw on a wii game. When I want to play more serious games, I throw on a PS3 or 360 game.

The only advantage with the wii is that it is very family oriented. There are tons of games that the entire family can enjoy together, whereas the PS3 and 360 consoles are more for serious one player games and serious multiplayer games. Not a lot, if any, PS3 or 360 games are really geared towards families.

The wii is more of a 'kiddie friendly' console while the other two are 'more adult'.

I've become a Wii convert though it will never takeover from the 360 due to the superior game libruary for the 360. However the Wii offers a lot and at the moment I am playing Mario Galaxy and pretty much loving it. Went into virtual console and nabbed Streets of Rage and the 1st Mario Game and I want more later . Even brought some gamecube controllers cause theres more than a few GC games I wanna buy.

Hey, Jax, is Mario Galaxy worth the price?? It looks good...but should I wait for a used copy or is it good enough to buy new?

Am borrowing it off a friend but I will buy it one day for Wii collection. Never played any of other 3D mario games just the spinoff stuff like party, kart, golf etc but its a fun game. It looks really beautiful the game and its the best game to use the Wii controls there work really well. A long game too so worth the price I would deffo recommend it.

:techman:

The only issue is sometimes the camera but its only infrequent, The game is bags of fun.

I am amazed that even at 480p, the graphics are still pretty good for these Wii games...

I really enjoyed it. I'd say it's as good if not better than Mario 64 for the N64 (which I also have on the Virtual Console )

I'm in my second attempt at playing Mario Galaxy. I gave up on it early on some time ago and got rid of my Wii. I recently got back into Wii gaming and I bought it used to try again.

I guess I'll play a little bit of a devils advocate here, I'm not as thrilled with it as most people here. To me, it harkens back too much to the old Super Mario days on NES, and for me, that's not a good thing. I found those games to be more annoying than fun. Had gaming not evolved past these "timing jumping stages" (as I call them) I would not be a gamer today. (Which might not be a bad thing considering how much $ I spend on gaming.)

And unfortnately I'm running into exactly those kind of levels in Mario Galaxy (The "Sweet Sweet galaxy for example :klingon:) and those things detract from my fun. Oddly enough, I don't recall facing that so much in Mario 64, but maybe I've just forgotten.

I would take Ratchet and Clank any day over this game, but that's just me.

Should have thought of that BEFORE you bought it!:guffaw: What there were not any games for it you liked? or have you just not been able to play it?

Just bought one!

Went to GameStop, traded in my GameCube, picked up a Nintendo Wii, an extra controller/nunchuk, and a bunch of games:

Wii Sports/Wii Sports Resort
Super Mario Galaxy
Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Resident Evil 4
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Metroid Prime Trilogy (pre-order)

I have to admit, the Wii Channels are fucking lame. But I primarily bought the system to play games and I don't really care about the Miis, the Weather Channel, the News Channel, or the Photo Editing stuff. I don't even care much about the gimped online play or the Virtual Console so I haven't bothered to hook it up to my internet connection yet.

I tried to find some way to delete the channels but it wouldn't let me. But, as I said, I mostly bought the system to play some of the great 1st party games and also to have some fun playing Wii Sports with friends.

I figure the games I bought (plus my GameCube games) should keep me busy until more potentially good games come out. Looking forward to Dead Space: Extraction, Red Steel 2, and of course the next Zelda game...

I thought about waiting for the new slim, price-cut PS3 but I don't really care about Blu-Ray and I don't care for most modern FPS games. I may still buy a PS3 down the road, but for now I'm pretty happy with my Wii purchase. Between that and my plethora of PC games/ROMs I think that will be more than enough to keep me occupied. Not exactly a hardcore gamer anyway.

you will love Ressie 4 and also I recommend dipping into the Virtual Console.
