How do you feel about 4am?

4am is such an odd time for me because I'm usually just starting to think that I should go to bed. Hell, it's almost 5am right now, and I just got back from the gym! I probably won't go to bed until 7am or so, if I bother going to bed at all.

But 4am is weird. I'm not usually tired yet, and I'm often frustrated that there is nothing to do. I can only watch so much Adult Swim, and normal people are all sleeping, so there's nobody online to talk to.

How do you feel about 4am? Are you like me and wide awake? Are you waking up and getting ready/leaving for work? Or are you right in the middle of a good night's sleep?

I am always wide awake at 4 AM. It's the in-between time for me, too.
Everyone else is asleep, so I just browse the internet but by this time I'm restless and usually want to go to bed but can't, my sleep patterns still used to 13 hour shifts and getting home at 3-4 in the morning. That's been over a year ago, too!

My sleep pattern just wants the earth to rotate more slowly so that we can add about 6 hours onto the day.

It's the time where I usually start contemplating going to bed.
Yeah, same for me. I used to go to bed pretty early, but not for the last couple of years. Silly internet and MSN - such bad influences.

The only bad thing about going to bed at 4am is that you end up sleeping until the late morning or early afternoon...

If I was left to my own devices I would love 4AM. I would probably just be getting ready to go to sleep or maybe just starting my night time, and I turn in in a few more hours. I have prefereded these hours for over 20 years.

Right at the moment now 4AM is a curse for me. I am unemployed and desperately trying to adjust my hours to be awake during the day so I can look for work and it is a losing battle. Case in point I have a job interview at 9:30 today. Yesterday I slept until about 3:30. So now I am up all night having to wait until daybreak comes and I can start the day despite being awake for 18 hours. Plus the fact that I am depressed as hell right now and doing nothing but vegging in front of the computer all night has me even more bummed.

I am the classic night owl, but the world never seemed to want to just let me be one.:(

If I can move the time in question back a few minutes -- I find 3.45 am is my changeover time between one night and the next morning. Before this, being awake is a late night feeling. After this, being awake is an early morning feeling. I usually go to bed some time between 10pm and 11pm, a bit of internet, and then when I feel sleepy I'll shut that off and fall asleep within minutes. I'm rarely awake after 1am. I sleep well.

I usually feel something along the lines of "Oh crap, I've got to get up in an hour and a half".

If I've been sleeping all night, and I wake up fresh, then 4am is a wonderful time. :D

If I've been awake all night, with not a wink of sleep, then it is a trying, lonely time. :(

I get up at 425AM and ususally arrive at work between 530 and 600AM.

At 400AM I am usually grateful that I have another 1/2 hour of sleep, but sometimes I go ahead and get up to get my day started.

I like being up in the middle of the night, so when I retire I'll probably stay up through most of the night and go to late in the morning. My favorite part of the day is between 2AM and 11AM.

I wake up at 4AM a lot. I have no idea why. My ass doesn't have to be up until 7. Ugh!

But it's nice to wake up, check my clock, and realize I still have 3 more hours of sleep. :)

I agree. However, it's not so nice waking up and realising that you only have 10 minutes before you're meant to get up. :(

How do *I* feel about 4am? I have nothing against it, I feel the same way towards that time moment as I do towards any other. :guffaw: ;)

4 AM is - like clockwork - time to get up and pee, and try really hard not to wake up enough that it takes a lot of time to get back to sleep.

4am is a little under an hour away for me. I can't sleep. I woke up about an hour ago and started thinking about work, and I have a cold starting and feel lousy. I need to get some sleep but I can't. I hope that I'm asleep by the time 4am gets here. :(
