Continues to baffle me that anyone is capable of liking the TOS Enterprise out of anything but pure nostalgia. I find "that bucket of bolts" a better descriptor for that than the Excelsior.
You no see de remastered eps, eh?;)

What difference does that make? I've seen caps, and It's still the same ship.

Hell no, the TOSremasturbated stuff turns the ship into a cartoon ... not a technicolor one, but certainly a ROGER RABBIT-era one that does an injustice to what preceded it..

Perhaps you need to upgrade from your 13" B&W TV then, I find most of the remastered shots to be amazing. True, modern modelwork photographed in the right way would be better, but that time has passed.
I takes the detail on the classic beauty I can gets.;)

It's still the same design. Even if the objective quality is better, nothing can fix the design itself. That's what I was getting at. Wasn't trying to imply that the video quality was the same.

My pick is pretty obscure - a modular spaceship from an S4 episode of Farscape, which had globular modules that could re-form into any configuration. Very adaptable and cool.

First choice for a "regular" ship - Moya from Farscape. Hard to beat a living ship.

It's still the same design.
And, a fantastic one IMO. Timeless. Near perfect.

Well...whatever works for you, I guess. Although "Timeless" isn't something I'd call it. The Excelsior is the one TOS design that stands out to me as not having this weird retro-futuristic look to it.

I was struggling to pick one, then I saw this post, and the Excelsior option, and my mind was made up :techman:

For me the Enterprise (both the original and the refit) gets the top ranking with the Discovery from 2001 coming in a close second (although more for the interiors than the exterior design).

Well, you included a number of non-ST ships, so technically, this topic should be in another forum. But my choice wasn't in the poll. It's the Romulan Warbird from TNG, the D'deridex class. Love that ship. It looks menacing and dangerous, and while I don't care that much for the green hull, it gives it an interesting look. Would love to see a Warbird painted either gold or cobalt blue. -- RR

<---Ignores pathetic bashers and votes for NuEnterprise, "no bloody A, B, C or D":guffaw:. 2nd place vote would be for the Jupiter 2, the first spaceship design I ever saw on television.
