default video codec in a fresh windows xp installation

I need to convert a video file I have to a format which doesn't need special codec (Xvid etc), meanning no download of any file is required to open the file (it does not contain sound).

Which default codecs come with a new install of windows xp? the file size is no concern.

Thanks everyone

MPEG-1, AVI, WMV, and ASF should all be supported by XP out of the box. Your safest bet is probably a WMV video inside an ASF container (default extension for that is "WMV"). Audio should be WMA format.

Which version of XP are you wanting to use this on? H.263 is included with SP1, so I'd go with that if you're at least going to SP1.
