OK gang, my three year old daughter and I just sat down to watch the Doctor Who Easter Special (it's right bloody gorgeous on Blu-Ray, BTW).

She said she didn't want to watch the one with the guy with the funny ears. When I pressed her, she said she didn't want to watch the one with the guy who has no eyes, funny ears, and is named "Ru Hu."

She could be talking about anything from Mr. Spock to Geordi to the Toclafane to the Puffer Fish Alien, but I'm not understanding her.

Any ideas?

First guess would be Davros. aka "you hoo!" No eyes, funny ears, and probably scary to a child. Or someone who had just eaten.

Well, I pulled up a pic of Davros, and she confirmed that was who she was talking about.

Until the giant fly aliens from the Planet of the Dead came on screen. Then she said it was them.

I think it's time for some review of our 10th Doctor's reign.

Indeed: Well done OmahaStar :bolian:

Damnit, that was fast! Three minutes on the T-BBS and the correct answer was there :rommie:

This is a little girl who, a year ago, scared the hell out of her daycare workers by responding to them with, "Ex-ter-mee-nate" in a gravelly voice, and then scared them again two weeks ago, while using same voice to chant, "We are coming. We are coming."

And then going, "We are coming. We are coming. ... Tomorrow." And laughing hysterically at the timing.

We've had a lot of 'splaining to do.

If you really think about it, The Empty Child from Eccleston's reign could fit too if you really stretch it. Then again, so could Eccleston ;)

It probably is Davros. That seems the most likely.

I've considered the likelihood of Eccleston's Doctor, but we've never really watched many of his eps with her. And the Empty Child two-parter we actually thought would be too scary, so we haven't shown it to her. That doesn't mean that we didn't have a Skiffy re-airing of it on one afternoon without thinking, or that her already insane memory wasn't being more insane that normal.

:guffaw:

That's awesome.

I've heard big grown rufty-tufty men admitting that episode scared them.

Yes, yes it is!

Yea, not sure I would show any of those things to a 3 year old. Shouldn't she still be into Telli-tubbies?

She'd be a bit old for telli-tubbies at three - Dora the Explorer and that ilk are shows for three-year-olds :)

Although general opinion in parenting communities is that all TV is the work of the devil so who knows ? ;)

My brother and SiL let my 3 year old niece watch Push, and they go to/work at Christian schools.

It's a judgment call. Some Who is too scary. Some TW is too. We've chosen to take an active role in family TV watching, so it's not a big thing.
