Have you ever had a wisdom tooth removed and it seems to take forever for the pain to end? Last month I had my back wisdom tooth removed but it's been almost 30 days later and it still feels tender and hurts at times were my tooth use to be, not to mention the pain does that thing were it transfer the pain to other teeth. Is it normal for it to stil lache and hurt thisl ong after getting a wisdom tooth removed? I even went back and got a second prescription of pain medicine and the sdentist put some more of that gunk stuff in the place were the tooth use to. I don't know what it's called but it just seemsl ike it's taking forever to heal. I also get headache's alot, since getting it removed.

How does a tooth you don't have ache?

;)

I call it phantom tooth ache. Sort of like how people can miss their limbs, after they have lost to injury or surgery. Technically it's praobly the gum area that hurts. I also feel some pain iny jaw. Also for awhile there I could feel snot in my mouth whenever I would wake up in the morning. Has this type of stuff every happened to anyone after getting a wisdom tooth removed?

I've had my ''wisdom'' teeth removed. Never had any ''Phantom'' tooth pain!

After I had my wisdom teeth removed I had to irrigate the wounds with salt water on a daily basis failure to do so meant infection. Did you have a wound that required cleaning? You could have gotten some bacteria in there and it may have caused an infection. Just a guess.

I'd definitely go see your dentist if it gets really bothersome. It could be either a dry socket or a minor infection. I had my wisdom teeth taken out when I was 15 years old and I'm glad I did cause if I had waited any longer, my teeth would have been too crooked beyond repair for braces.I did what the docs told me to do-which was to take tylenol and irrigate the wounds with salt water three times daily. I had not ne're a problem! :P

I was thinking it might be a infection. I did rense my mouth out with salt water but I admit I kind of forgot about it after a few days. I haven't done it as much as I should. Should I start using salt water again. If it's a infection does that mean I need to take antiboitic's?

If I'm not mistaken after a month the wounds should have healed but I can't remember how long it took for me. If it was an infection chances are they would give you some antibiotics based on severity most likely you would have to take some pills and keep the wound clean. There is no way to make a very good diagnosis from a bbs if you have insurance or a way to pay to be looked at I definitely would.

Thirty days is a long time. You should feel better after a week or so, although it can take a couple of months to heal completely. If you're still having the same level of discomfort that you had right after the surgery, call your doctor.

I'd go back to the dentist. There's a possiblity there was some sort of mistake during the procedure.

YES!!! Even if not a "mistake," there could've been another problem developing from the weakened tooth.

I had a poor molar that had had fillings (increasing in size over the years) until finally it was a gold crown. Then root canal-ed (which wasn't as bad as everyone said, but keeping one's mouth so wide open for so long does hurt, but that goes away).

But it began to ache after that. How? The root/nerve was killed, right? Well, there was a shadow on the xray, indicating a problem. So it got pulled. There was a hole in the side of the tooth along one crack that ran from under the crown all the way down the tooth. A shorter crack was on the other side of the tooth.

Let me tell you, having an implant put in makes root canal a play date. Drilling into your jaw is totally different from drilling into your tooth. And frakkin' expensive!!! $2500 NOT covered by insurance!!

So I think what we're saying here is GO TO THE DENTIST JAYSON! Would it help you to know dentist's are often freaky chicks who love to de-virginize 30 something fat guys?
