Post Your Ride: The Faster and More Furious-er Edition

I did a quick search and found there hasn't been a "show off your car" thread in a while...and I just washed and detailed my new car today so...I was inspired.

Behold, my month old 2009 Honda Accord EX coupe, in gleaming Belize Blue Pearl, sporting a DOHC i-VTEC all aluminum 4-cylinder engine pumping out around 190 HP while giving me roughly 27 MPG combined, only costing me an average of $45 at the pump, and that's when I fill up with Chevron (only the best for this one). I went from a full size pickup to this, so it's taken some getting used to, but I acclimated to the change from 15 MPG and $65 fill ups quite easily.

Some day when I have the funds I'd like to get some bigger wheels and tires. Nothing too huge, maybe some tasteful 18" or 19" 5-spokes.

Anyway, that's mine. Let's see yours.

NP242 "Selec-Trac" Full/Part Time 4WD

used photobucket's crap photo editing to remove the plate number so there's some random eraser dots in the middle of the pics

it's all stock at the moment but things I would do to it if I had the money:
-remove all the rust and replace with fresh metal
-do a 2 or 3 inch lift
-upgrade the steering and suspension
-replace the exhaust with something more growly
-get some black steelies and 33 inch tires
-get a spare mount for either the roof or back bumper
-tow hitch
-replace fender flares with the flares from a Wrangler TJ
-upgrade the soundsystem

Yeah...I've always wanted to try a manual, but since my commute takes me into the city and includes a lot of stop and go bumper to bumper, I had a feeling the stick shift would get old after a while.

Have no fear, when I finally get my Camaro it'll most definitely be the manual 6-speed.

backstept my uncle has one of those and it's a blast in RWD! And how can I not love Cr031k's Firebird!


As for my beauty, here she is when she last was clean:

'99 Saab 9-5 SE, 4-cylinder turbo engine with chip trim option meaning it has 192 hp (well had, it's likely lower these days). Fun to drive, totally decent economy, comfy seats, okay upgraded stereo, great room inside, always starts, and since the 4-cylinder was considered to "weak" it has no traction control. Which of course makes for fun

She's saved more times then I can remember and I've recently taken the decision that I'll keep her for quite a while more. Or at least until the new 9-5 is affordable as used cars. Tomorrow we're (hopefully) putting in a new fan in it so that my defroster and hopefully some kinda of cold air can work again. Was pretty miserable in it today when we went to the movies and my friend was to weak to stand us driving with all windows down on the highway.

D'oh. I should probably fix that...

It didn't really take all that much time to 'Shop out the plate. I'm not even sure why I did it...since everyone on the road can see your plate anyway...but I do it just because. Makes the car look better anyway without those letters and numbers drawing the eye away.

well this is fun

these are pictures of the brand new brake line installed over the weekend
the mechanic did an absolutely horrible job of it and it caused the line to scrape the front driveshaft
at first the noise wasn't that bad and I thought it was something else entirely, until yesterday on the way home from work, some lady decided to slow down in the passing lane, and I mean below 30mph! apparently she was going to turn around at one of those 'no U-Turn' spots the cops always use . . . didn't even have her turn signal on
well anyway I had to brake pretty hard and that's when the scraping became really loud and every little bump would set it off
so I got underneath it when I got home and saw the trouble spot right away
I'm not even a car guy an--wait . . . I love cars . . . I mean I'm not even a gearhead/mechanically inclined--that works
anyway, like I was saying, I don't know mechanics of cars that well, I mean I know how to fix flats, add fluids etc, but when it comes to brake lines and all that I have no clue, but even I know that it looked completely wrong up under there

so the vehicle's back in the shop and they're fixing it for free

I absolutely love it!

Yeah when I borrowed it last a few times it was winter and I never went into AWD. It was too much fun going around corners in RWD! Really never imagined I'd enjoy it as much, just borrowed it out of necessity but it's great. Not as comfy as my Saab, but loads of fun still.

Sucks about the brake line though, but good that they're owning up and fixing it for free.

Me I didn't get to put in the new fan today, dad didn't have the tools to take of the wipers. The ONLY bit that we needed special tools to get off, the rest was just screws clips and plugs. But we did fix the sparkplugs (it have been kinda hard to start at times), and dad is fixing the fan Tuesday at work. Would have like to be there for that though, but oh well. Still learned new stuff about my car today.
