^ Ah yes, Pitch Black, another movie I really liked. And whatever one thinks of Vin Diesel, he was actually really good in that one.

Well, I'm also surprised that the new ST even made it on the list, as it has glaring flaws. I also think 2001 should've been number one and do think Planet of the Apes deserves to be in the top 10, partly because of its iconic shock ending. I'm also disappointed Close Encounters didn't rate in the top 10. And even though I'm not crazy about TMP, it should've been on the list. -- RR

And yes, Time After Time is one of my favorite time travel movies, and should be on the list. Same goes for Twelve Monkeys!

Oh, yes, you're right - I didn't read it clearly. Just saw the movie title. 'Course, I haven't actually *seen* TFF or TUC in years, and I don't actually like those two very much, so they went clean out of my small mind. But yes, David Warner was the actor he was obviously thinking of.

Both the very talented McDowell and Warner were the "it" boys at one time, the hot young actors of a burgeoning British film industry with major roles in critically acclaimed films...only to end up in their middle and later years playing villains and baddies in genre movies and on TV guest spots.

I think of Pitch Black as a "B" movie, but a pretty well done one for all that. I like it a heckuva lot better than exploitation fare like Event Horizon.

And Diesel was good in it. He's also very good in a little independent movie called Boiler Room - in fact, he shows real acting chops in it. Highly recommended, though not SF.

Good list - I've never seen The Man From Earth, and I gotta do that.

Star Trek deserves to be far, far higher.

No kidding. I can't take a poll seriously that puts crap like Godzilla in the upper half of the list. And sorry, I liked Star Wars--a lot--but it should not be placed at #3 because there were better candidates; Alien, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Planet of the Apes and The Matrix to name a few.

PREDATOR(1987) is certainly better than most of the other films in the PREDATOR and ALIENS series, including the two A .v.P movies. To this day it's one of my favorite alien thrillers AND Arnold films.
