The very idea that Nolan would ever consider allowing this for TDK is non-existance.

The prospect of WB or Nolan or DC allowing this in the wake of the huge box-office and critical acclaim of TDK, not to mention that little golden dude named OSCAR being won by the late great Heath Ledger -- first time any superhero-anything has ever even been NOMINATED let alone WON an Oscar for anything non-technical...

No. Nada. This is the biggest bullshit wet-dream nightmare rumor of the century.

No matter how much an exec or two might like the idea of appealing to teen-girls with Batman for the first time ever, the stock-holders would riot and the everyone else involved would slit the throats of anyone in any position of power in WB or DC even thinking of suggesting this sort of absolute bullshit idea for realistic consideration.

Worst. Rumor. Ever.

Tim Burton's living-superman-suit that resided in a garbage can idea was better than this!

This rumor is seriously, without a doubt, the biggest load of bullshit ever. It's dinosaur-sized pile-of-shit huge. More bullshit in this insane of a rumor than is spewed by the collective politicians of the world in a year!

I laughed my ass off in Spider-Man 3 when they said it was finally the second anniversary of the death of Uncle Ben. Time is fucked in comics and more fucked in comic book movies.

Huh? They mentioned that in Spidey 2, not 3. And even if they did, it would make sense as the events in Spidey 3 come pretty close after the events of Spidey 2.

The Globe said that Miley "stunned" producers at Warner Bros when she appeared to try out for the part. An insider said that she showed up in a full batsuit to better her chances.

"She was sort of hopping around the room and had even written some dialogue for herself," the insider revealed. "The problem is, some people aren't really convinced Miley has the acting chops to pull it of."

I would sacrifice kittens to see DC make a Barbara Gordon movie. But with Barbara as Oracle - her time as Batgirl is more interesting when it's viewed through a lens of nostalgia. Bring her in as silver-age and she's just a cheesy distaff marketing gag.

(Course, we're not likely to ever get an Oracle movie after the complete mess made of the BOP tv show. )

As I've said in other threads I would not mind seeing Robin if handled in the way his story was in Dark Victory I think that very appropriate for the tone and style Nolan has established in these films. Batgirl I would like to see especially after seeing Barbra Gordon in the Dark Knight even though she wasn't mentioned by name or really shown, all us fan boys know who she was! I felt bad for Babs when Jim chose his son, but really his son was the focus in Year One and Babs wasn't around yet. I am a big beliver that both these characters and work and be accepted but those of you who don't want Robin have to get rid of that Batman and Robin stench and open up your minds, as a Vulcan friend of ours is fond of stating, there are always possibilities. Yes I know and have accepted that Nolan won't use Robin at all in these movies but there are other writers and directors there that might want to bring him in. Robin first then Batgirl and not played by Miley Cyrus.

I'll quote my earlier post:

In other words, in the post-crisis comics, Gordon's wife is named Barbara. Gordon also has niece named Barbara. As a teen, she eventually moves in with Gordon after her parents are killed.

When I typed my earlier post, I was almost certain there was a retcon that later revealed that Batgirl-Barbara was be Gordon's biological daughter (unbeknownst to him) due to an affair he had with his brother's wife. However, after researching it since, I can't find anything to back up that claim. Perhaps I misremembered something.

In any event, Batgirl-Barbara as Gordon's niece is true.

Post-Crisis and in the wake of DKR, Frank Miller in Year One named Gordon's first wife Barbara, made him an expatriate Chicago cop forced to flee the Roman's sister, and forced a retcon of Babs/Batgirl down to Jim's niece and later adopted daughter, since James Jr. was now their firstborn. They divorced, and Jim kept custody of Babs, who a panicked Barbara had sold out in a moment of weakness concerning a secret of her father. The current, and final retcon until they just go back to SA origins, is that Jim had an affair with Babs' mother prior to her marrying his brother, and that Babs is his daughter, anyway--unless IC already remade it as SA again.
