My Son's First Trek Viewing

Try watching BATMAN/BATMITE cartoon or Tarzan..they all use the same music and cause even the most candy laced kids to fall asleep...

The only thing that works better? Disney's THE BLACK HOLE

Rob

I'd forgotten about the existence of that film for the last twenty-odd years. Thanks for reminding me... :wah:

I know the feeling. The Black Hole disappeared into what they use to call a black hole.

For the posters who's children particularly like the Gorn or Mugatu, there were a series of official star trek "beanie babies" put out about 10 or 12 years ago ...you could probably find them online somewhere. I have a set, and they are pretty cute. Theres a Vulcan, Gorn, Mugatu, Ferengi, Targ and Andorian. I'll see if i can get a decent picture of mine for you.

Ok, here are a couple of pictures for you: the "beanie babies"

And don't know if you are aware of this: a most wonderful pop up book that kids would probably enjoy:

Got to episode number five this evening. I sat down on the couch, popped in the "Lights of Zetar" and the little guy cuddled up next to me and really enjoyed it. While I thought he would think the episode was slow and boring he was into it a lot. Perhaps lights on the screen "entering" the body or attacking is all that is needed to entertain a four year old. Actually surprised how much I enjoyed the episode. Haven't seen it in years.

I don't think I'd ever seen one of those before about three weeks ago, when someone gave a copy as a gift at a friend's wedding. Small world.

SOFTFOCUS, youre welcome! The pop up book is indeed gorgeous. Its not many pages, but theres alot on each page. i love it.

GEP MALAKAI...what a cool gift! How did the receiving couple take it? Funny how you never knew such a thing existed and now you've seen two of them in such a short period of time.

Heres something else that i have that would be particularly neat for a younger child. Its an I CAN DRAW Star Trek book. I've taken a picture of both the cover and one of the inside pages so you can see what it is like:

Enjoy watching trek again through your little one's eyes!

thanks for post that 'how to draw the enterprise' from the top angle. My son, the five year old, saw that and...well..thanks to you he's just about gone through a ream of printer paper trying to do it...thanks a lot!!!

I actually have no idea--the gifts were piled on a table in the reception hall, and the couple never got around to them during the event. I assume it went well, though, considering the bride and groom figures for the cake were Playmates figures of K'Ehleyr and Worf in hand-tailored wedding outfits.

^ GEP, something tells me this is one fun couple!
Did you get a picture of the cake? (Or any other Trek stuff at the wedding?)

And does the couple know about the TrekBBS?

No. I didn't have a camera. That was also, as far as I know, the only Trek-related anything there.

Well, except for the Starfleet registry-styled "Just Married" information I painted on the side of their car. :p

And does the couple know about the TrekBBS?

I don't think they have the inclination or the time.
