The Hollywood Reporter revealed tonight that Paramount Pictures CEO Brad Grey has requested the resignation of studio executives Brad Weston and John Lesher. Weston, former president of production, had been enjoying the biggest success of his career with J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, which has now earned nearly $235 million for Paramount.
Reasons for the executive shakeup have not been divulged by the studio.

Looks like Paramount's quickly trying to separate themselves from anyone who may have that disease of success. Whew! Smart thinkin'!

^ It's Paramount. I'm always worried.
They always seem to be successful in spite of their upper level stupidity.

I'm more worried about the news that they may be looking at merging with another studio. I don't want that to happen :(

If Paramount merges, it would be to the extreme benefit of Paramount, if anything.

Unless the heads of viacom are going to sell paramount I doubt its going to merge with any big studio a smaller studio like dreamworks perhaps

I'm not worried about the new movie being made. It made tons of money so they will get it done. I'm worried this might impact Abrams decesion to return to "Star Trek." Are you all ready for a Brett Ratner "Star Trek" movie? :)

So Jackie Chan as Kahn and Chris Tucker as Kirk for the new movie then? God help us all.

No reason to get worried. Hollywood studios experience major and minor shake-ups like these all the time, firing and hiring executives for nothing (or everything). It's not a bother to our worries.

Hollywood hasn't escaped the economic downturn, far from it.

Younger people in their positions equal less expense for the studio.

I wonder if they will pull back the budget of Star Trek XII now that they know they have a built-in audience for the next one?
Much as I dislike the new Battlestar Galactica, it's true that "what happened before will happen again."

Raft, do YOU have a corporate job? You seem to understand the mentality so well... ;)
