If CUBA is such a great place why do so many people try to leave?

Micheal Moore made cuba to be this great medical utopia, In the BOND film die another day it's said that CUBAS health care is second to none. They all drive around in COOL looking antique automobiles and all the people there love worshiping this 80+ dude (so he's doing something right) so why are there so many people that risk there lives trying to come to america? I don't get it. Can someone explain this to me?

Well, smoking kills and I hear in the US most places are really non-smoker friendly, so you're safe from all those Cuban cigars? Something like that, I'd say...

Don't confuse Michael Moores delusions or Hollywood depictions with the real thing. Do you know what salt air does to a car?

I happen to know a Cuban boat refugee, and he is glad he's here for many many reasons.

My data may be second hand since I'm only hearing it from a cuban regugee, but at least it hasn't gone through the mainstream media or the movie mill. I'll take what I got for closer to the truth than anything else.

FWIW, the guy I know? He's made his own way here, became a citizen, and has a job as director of emergency medical services. It's guys like this that I'm happy to welcome to my country!

Your first mistake was taking Michael Moore seriously.

Bond films though are 100% accurate. The Cubans really do have fiberoptic face masks that can turn North Koreans into British guys with psychedelic lights.

Gordon Brown? He's actually Kim Jong Il in disguise. It's insidious.

Cuba does, as far as I know, have pretty good health care, actually. They're way ahead of the curve compared to other developing countries in that regard. Everything else is kind of crumbling, though.

Which was Moore's point in the film. Even a country like Cuba has health care.

*GASP*! You mean they DON'T have those things?!?!?

Don't roll your eyes at me. You're the one who based your point of view on Cuba on Michael Moore and Bond films. Now go watch 'Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights' and report your findings back to me. :p

I believe they have some of the best hurricane relief doctors in the world I believe.

And Bush turned them down :(
