Shatner reads Palin's farewell speech (Conan O' Brien) 07-27-09

"He just hangs out backstage.........he's there whenever we need him." Lol, classic one.

....in the year 3000.....

Next month I am going to a taping of BIG BANG THEORY and the next day, a taping of Conan..should be fun

Rob

WOW. Sounds like you're in for quite a time. I've been wanting to go see Conan ever since he moved over to the West coast. Make sure to take plenty of pictures!

Was watching the late night with Conan, as I have for the past several years. Anyway, I jumped out of my seat as soon as Conan introduced William Shatner out of no where to read Palin's farewell speech.

Enjoy!

*Shatner looks really good for his age.

Reminded me of that "poetry" at BHO's inauguration. It was pretty bad.
Yes, it was. I was shocked that Maya Angelou wasn't available.

It probably had more to do with Elizabeth Alexander's family. Her brother is a senior advisor to Obama and her dad is a former Secretary of the Army. At least that's my assumption, 'cause it can't have been the poetry.

So, in reality... Palin's quitting to start ehr career as a beat poet?

I can see her on the road, beret, black slacks, Gauloise at the corner of her mouth, reading Kerouac. Yeah.

Because that's the only way you can explain her speech.

The Shat is awesome. And he really did make her speech sound like poetry. :)

Some of the right-ring are calling Shatner's reading of her 'farewell' words as a hit job. I would agree with you, however, he made her words BETTER. They should thank him.

Can you explain what a hit job is? Only hit jobs I'm familiar are the one's seen in crime movies and obviously you're not talking about those.

Oh..i was listening on the way in to a right-wing channel, its right next to my NFL Sirius station, and sometimes my button will error and take me there. The host was going on how shatner's poem reading on Conan was a 'hit' job by the liberial mainstream media on her...an attack if you will..

That's pretty much what they're alluding to, but metaphorically. Shatner reading her speech with bongos and a bass in the background is, apparently, the media equivalent of gunning her down at an isolated toll booth.
