So none of our regulars are reporting back from Comic-Con? What are the big trends/interesting stuff/stupid stuff?

My take so far, from afar...

Big trend in movies: post-apocalypse.

Big trend in TV: alien invasions.

Will Tron 2.0 (excuse me, Tron Legacy) feature Zachary Levi (a cameo at least)? Will The Box turn out to be a half-hour concept stretched to two hours?

Good photos? I dunno why, this struck me as funny.

And what the hell is this thing?!?
 
The big news out of SDCC is that Marvel has acquired the rights to Marvelman, better known to Americans as Miracleman.
 
I don't know whether to be glad the books might finally see print again or collapse in terror of what might happen. Maybe if the old Epic line were still going the title could find a suitable home at Marvel, but now, I'm doubtful.

MAX would be the obvious place; it's the non-creator-owned, mature readers imprint.
 
I've been following Newsarama's coverage since wednesday, they're doing a great job keeping on top of things. The Marvelman thing is HUGE! Can't wait to see how Marvel introduces him.
 
I got some tidbits...

Fake Lost S6 video - hmm, a bit spoilery. Good old Jack, his plans work out as well as ever. But I'm still rooting for the damn plane to crash into that Indonesian ocean trench. :p

Heroes goes back to its roots. Sounds hopeful - giving Peter and Matt, at least, relatable, normal lives (no doubt soon to be interrupted) is kinda what they should have done in S2. Start with them being normal and transition them into an abnormal state of extreme "heroism" in a way that seems natural. But I've been hopeful about this stupid show before...:rommie:

Video with major spoilers from last season of course. Can somebody translate what Adrian and Zach are saying at the beginning? The sound is too distorted for me to understand it!!! Until Adrian gets to that rude "it's much easier than you think" zinger...cute.

Promo video of The Prisoner (AMC). They probably should have released a shorter video. This just makes it seem tediously repetitive.

WOW! That looks awesome. I was very curious how they were going to do this. I'm kinda glad it doesn't seem to be a literal remake, but rather they are taking the base components and spinning their own version. Although it is just a short promo, I kinda hope the village is a little more surreal like it was in the original series.
 
Getting to meet Geoff Johns was real cool because I got to ask him some lingering questions I had with his run on JSA. The smallville news, JSA, was a shock and since I don't watch Smallville, looks like I have a new show to record this fall. I think they should just let him take over the show, because he is a talent!!!

It has been very HOT here in San Diego, so kudos to all the visiting BBS fans, if you are here. Very hot and muggy, but luckly, being down there by the bay, there is a natural air condition at times..

Very crowded. I waited in line to see the Cameron thing but didn't get in. I have spent, yikes, nearly 800$ on all kinds of stuff. My son, five years old, was hyped he got a GREEN LANTERN shirt, for his sized, with the emblem of ALAN SCOTT on it and in scott's colors.

We went to see GFORCE yesterday and some one noticed his shirt as being the shirt for Alan Scott and told my son that it was real cool seeing some one his age even wearing that shirt...

Though taking my son was cool the first day, I didn't take him the second day I went. The crowds kind of phased him. Also, being that san diego is my home, I was shocked at the amount of homeless people in downtown san diego. I was totally oblivious to that amount.

I think this year is better than last year's comic-con. Seems a bit more organized and the crowds dont seem as rowdy, no doubt the heat is taking the wind out of our sails.

Oh...I love Grace Park.

I sure didn't get that impression. The version of Holmes in this trailer struck me as more glib with a penchant for more brawn than brains.
 
It very much turned out to be a BSG weekend for me. I attended the Caprica/The Plan panel but they didn't reveal anything that's not already known. I actually changed my game this year by avoiding all the big hall events and lines and went into stealth mode instead. Kept moving, never lingered anyplace too long. Well worth the effort too. By the end of the weekend I'd gotten autographs from Leonard Nimoy, Edward James Olmos, Michael Hogan, James Callis, and Richard Hatch. Chatted with each, shook their hands. Olmos was a hoot. He was spotted several times riding around downtown in a bicycle-driven pedicab.

The highlight for me was watching Bear McCreary and his Battlestar Galactica Orchestra perform at the House of Blues on Saturday. A 16-piece band playing music from the show. Frakking amazing. Olmos was the host (he lead the audience in a rousing chant of So Say We All) and Grace Park was the emcee for the evening. Tahmoh Penikett was in the audience a few seats over from me and he joined Grace on the stage later. Awesome to see them together again. Michael Hogan, Katee Sackoff, and Richard Hatch were there for the Friday show.

It was awesome to see them all support Bear and the band, Olmos in particular, very much like a loving family.

Great stuff Gilligan. I was the house of blues thingy too. I won some tickets to it on a local radio program...and Grace Park is just so sexy! I actually got to shake her hands and, well I wanted to grab something else, but I was able to control myself.

This is the second time I got to meet Richard Hatch. This time we talked for about five minutes, and he remembered me, because last time we met, two years ago, we chatted about his experience when he was on an episode of Hawaii Five-0. He thinks its quite funny that most people now, who see him, and I mean general public, think he looks so different than he did on SURVIVOR. (yes..I know..but it is funny)

People forget that Holmes is quite the experienced fighter as referenced in the original stories as well as an extreme intelligent individual. Several adaptations have significantly down played the physical element of the character.
