James Horner's Complete TWOK Now Available

Wow. I never knew Horner was an cadet extra in one of the Mutara Nebula pre-battle scenes.

I love having the Genesis Project stuff. The stuff not heard in the movie kind of reminds me of Blade Runner or something similar. The movie portion just invokes the lovely voice of Bibi Besch in my mind. :) :(

The epilogue extra, being virtually identical to the movie version without the Genesis planet portions, would be useless if it didn't have that TOS fanfare section minus Nimoy's voice-over.

I also liked learning that not only did Spock and Khan have their own individual themes (Spock's is readily identifiable and Khan's is a no-brainer) but that Kirk AND the Enterprise have separate though highly interwoven themes of their own. Cool. :D

I love being able to listen to this score. It isn't an "easy" score listen to ... parts of it are an aural assault. But then there are parts that are so iconic that it's a real pleasure to be able to sit back and take it all in. In fact, some aspects of it seem, to me at least, to be a kind of precursor to, say, The Dark Knight score.

I should write up a review for it one of these days.

But the Genesis stuff was heard in the movie.

A significant portion of the track in the middle, yes. But the track contains stuff that is not in the film at all. That is the stuff that reminds me of Blade Runner.

I just got this and listened to it. It's truly great to hear the full score for the first time. I find that I prefer the alternate version of the end titles. Anyone else?

Do you mean the alternate epilogue without the Genesis planet material? The recording of the end titles is the same.

I love this new version. It's the best Trek related thing that I have gotten to experience this summer. Yes, this simple CD is better than Trek 11
